Kettering Alter vs. Coshocton (Wk 14)
I believe this game will be played @ Hamilton Township where Logan played two weeks ago.
My Prediction: The Knights will be way too much for the Redskins, Alter 35 - Coshocton 7

I just read where the QB for Alter was hurt.
If he plays I am going with my 42-0 score of he is out I am going with 28-0 Alter.

I wish Coshocton all the luck in the world cause..the farther they go, the better they make the Tigers look but I'm afraid, they've got their hands full next week and will wind up getting a beat down. I hope I'm wrong though

GAHS.....I didnt mean to sound off on the kids from Alter. I wish them good luck and good Health. I just dont beleive that Private Schools and Public Schools should compete for the same State Title. This is just my OPINION but it is a very uneven playing field.
I am really sorry if I offended anyone.

Alter has given up a total of 7 points during the playoffs. Even if they're without their QB, it's still going to take a special football team to beat them. I'm not sure anyone left in D4 has the horses to beat them.

Chagrin Falls should give Alter a game. A very close game.
And if Alter is missing their QB, a Falls win would not be a surprise. They are VERY good.

You are 100% right. Private schools will always have the advantage because they are fielding teams mainly with the best athletes in the area. Not a bad deal if your kid is a standout because they will get alot of recognition. Look at St Iggy......how many DI stud QB's has that school sent out in the last 20 years! Nothing more than legalized recruiting for high schools sports IMO!

Re: Kettering Alter vs. Coshocton (Wk 14)
You'll never win a debate about this subject (public vs. private) no matter what side you argue from. I would like to see some formula to even up the odds as regards private vs. public. I'd also like to see some way to advance in class certain public schools if they have transfers from out of their geographic region. In a perfect world, there would be justice and a level playing field but we must accept the fact we don't live in a perfect world. OK, having said all that, I watched Coshocton play Ironton and although I've NEVER seen Alter play, if what I read is correct, Alter should make quick work of this game. Redskins are a good team but they didn't show me standout strength, speed or size. That is not a knock on them but they should be proud of their regional title. They are in rarified air now.

well good luck to coshocton, i'd love to see the team that defeated the ironton fighting tigers go all the way. but it's a tough task, when competing against these private schools. don't believe me, pull out a playoff program, and look at all the state championship winners. mindnumbing how many of them are private school's. in these modern days of football. a public school in reality. has limited opps, for getting to the final game. thats why i'm so proud of ironton, in 27 playoff appearences, we've made it there 8 times, winning 2 of them. most programs will never get to a single one.

I'm with ya; you should be proud of what Ironton has done but how many teams, no matter who they are or what division they are in do you see coming out of SE Ohio and going on to win it all in the near future? It is a very hard task now. Logan has to go against Columbus City League teams and they CAN recruit. Ironton wouldn't stand a chance against Alter. Maybe if you guys slip to D5. However, you got to open it up a little more on offense. I don't say you have to spread it out but you can't win with Woody ball anymore.

If Coshocton could play 15 on 11 this game would be close. I'm rooting for the Skins anyway. Good Luck!

Re: Kettering Alter vs. Coshocton (Wk 14)
You people have it all wrong in Alter's case on the public vs. private discussion. They have to compete with 3 other Catholic schools, and very good public schools that are free. These other schools play good football (e.g. CJ on the private side and Centerville on the public side). I am amazed every year watching them succeed. They do it by developing players, many of which only make on the field contributions their senior years. They ultimately get contributions from kids who develop that would be cast aside in the large public schools early on. I would say they are very much like the successful small public schools you are familiar with (e.g. Coldwater, Steubenville).

Re: Kettering Alter vs. Coshocton (Wk 14)
ak_fan, You will never convince some of these guys. I know Alter's enrollment has gone down since Middletown Bishop Fenwick built their new school and Dayton C.J. and Dayton Bishop Carroll on the up-swing. They also seem to forget that tuition at Alter I believe is near 5500 for parishoners and 7500 for non.
I'm sure there is Private schools that recruit as do some public. My Niece and Nephews all attended Fenwick, I know that there are some towns and villages close to Kettering and Middletown that have Catholic grade schools but do not have Catholic high schools so those students have to choose one of the 3 or 4 Catholic schools to continue their Catholic education.
This is a debate that will go on forever, but like one poster said "To be the best, you have to beat the best"

dutch have you looked at a state high school playoff football program, the difference in private/or catholic school wins of state championships, is staggeringly overwhelmingly in favor of the metro area priate schools.
