Week 4: Chillicothe (0-3) @ Athens (3-0)
Athens is off to a great start while Chillicothe has lost to some top quality competition. Thoughts on this one?

The Athens squad should have some extra emotion in this one, this game is being played on the one year anniversary of the devistating storm that ripped apart our old facility and community.

This might be the toughest game out of the last 3 imo ... Go Bulldogs get another one for the TVC
Re: Week 4: Chillicothe (0-3) @ Athens (3-0)
Up until last night I thought Chillicothe just had some bad luck but last nights game showed different.
Look for Athens to take this one.

Athens. I went to the Warren game and was impressed with them. Chillicothe will not contain Sharp. Also, Athens linebackers are good.

Chilli just ran in to a focused Ironton team and I think they will regroup to give Athens their first loss of the season won't be pretty but it will be a win for the cavs

Athens has been teasted against the run by Gallia. Test passed 10 pts allowed
Athens has been tested against the pass by Warren. Test passed 14 pts allowed
If Chillicothe can be the first team with a well balanced attack they could be the first team to knock off the Bulldogs, if not Athens will win.

I believe this will be a tough test for the Bulldogs. Chilli is no slouch. They should have beaten Hamilton Township and ran in to two very tough and physical teams in Ironton and Big Walnut. I think Athens will keep the momentum going and outplay Chilli and go to 4-0 on the season. With that being said I don't think Chilli will make it easy though, this will be a hard fought ballgame.

If Athens thinks they are on the same level as the other winning team in Southeastern Ohio they will have to win big.
They can't let Chillicothe stay in the game.

Athens could very well win 8-10 games this season but, I don't think Athens is at the level some people are giving them credit for at this point. Our program is still a work in progress and the team still hasn't put together a great game thus far however, Athens has made great progress in the learning to win category over the past few seasons and that is a cornerstone of any great program. Athens is a "good" football team but not an "elite" type team who has proven they can win not only several games a year but against better competition like Jackson or Ironton have done. Athens is striving to become that type of program and is on the right path it seems and with more of the same hard work we may be able to get there.noreply66 wrote:If Athens thinks they are on the same level as the other winning team in Southeastern Ohio they will have to win big.

Elite team or not these are quality wins these boys have put together, at this point last year 0-3. So credit is deserved, the last time I checked a win is a win no matter how it was done. Let's stop saying that there hasn't been a whole game put together by these boys because this is one of the most unified teams I've seen here in a long time and that goes a long way. With that said Go Bulldogs and press on.

Hold on there....I think you are reading my post in a far more negative way than I intended. I meant the post in a totally positive manner and was only pointing out that the program is still evolving into a top level team in the area. You are correct credit is deserved and our wins this season are quality wins, I wasn't taking anything away from the Bulldogs for the way they have won the games, I only mean that we haven't put together a complete game yet( if and when they do it will be scary good) and to their credit they still were able to win two close games against really good teams. On the unity issue, I never once said the weren't united or didn't play as a team or that they didn't have heart or anything else in that realm, to the contrary I believe they are a driven group that doesn't get rattled when they fall behind and play all out on every play which is impressive in its own right. I hope this clears up any misconception of my opinions. Go Bulldogs!blubomber89 wrote:Elite team or not these are quality wins these boys have put together, at this point last year 0-3.
