WK9 Winton Woods (3-5) at Jackson (6-2)
WK9 Winton Woods (3-5) at Jackson (6-2)
The Jackson Ironmen will be hosting the Cincinnati Winton Woods Warriors on Saturday night at Alumni Stadium. Winton Woods, who plays an extremely challenging schedule, is coming off a win over D1 powerhouse Cincinnati Elder (who defeated the two-time defending D1 state champ, Lakewood St. Ed's earlier this season), and if they win out to get to 5-5, they could still potentially make the playoffs in Region 8. Jackson, on the other hand, still has playoff hopes of its own, but might need to win out in order to get in.
I'm planning to crunch some playoff numbers this weekend, and hope to post some scenarios for Jackson once I'm finished. In the meantime, what does everyone think about this match up? Obviously a tall task for a Jackson team that is playing without several key players. Despite the 3-5 record (with several close losses to solid football teams) Winton Woods is the real deal. Senior DT Jerron Cage is committed to Ohio State, junior Chris Oats is one of the top ranked OLBs in the nation in the 2018 class, and CB Miquan Grace is a highly touted player in the 2019 class, among others.

This will Easily be the best team Jackson has played this Season and maybe for a long time.
Not going to predict any score. Just play as hard as you can .

Could be a great learning game for next year. I don't think Winton Woods kills Jackson but 28-7. But i thought Watterson would beat Jackson and Jackson won that defensive battle

Well me and some buddies are gonna come up the road and catch this one Saturday.
WW beating Elder and losing to SVSM in OT last week and a close game with LaSalle tells me this is going to be an extremely tough task for Jackson. But good luck nonetheless to one of our own SEO teams.

Good luck to Jackson next week, Winton sounds like a handful, won't be able to make it next Saturday sorry about the $2 lol.
I think there will be quite a few area high school gridiron fans catch this one from sounds of it.

- Saturday night in southern Ohio , what else is there to do
- fans who wanna see the Ironmen get a win
- fans who wanna see the Ironmen get a beat down
- fans who wanna see some d1 kids up close and a future buckeye
Should have something for everyone

As you point out usually I fall into "group 2" of you above scenario. But for the sake of sticking with SEO I actually will be wading into "group 1" albeit temporarily.
I anticipate making an immediate withdrawal from "group 1" come next Sunday though and return to "group 2".

Will Cody be back for this game , and what about Cam???
Re: WK9: Winton Woods (3-5) at Jackson (6-2)
I had heard that there was a chance that Roseberry may be back at some point, but I think that they may have been aiming for the Cabell-Midland game. Haven't heard anything other than that, but it sure would be nice for the Ironmen to be as close to full strength as they can be.Roadhog wrote:Will Cody be back for this game , and what about Cam???

Re: WK9 Winton Woods (3-5) at Jackson (6-2)
After doing my playoff projections this morning, it looks like Jackson needs to win out and then get a little help to sneak into the playoffs. There's a tiny chance that the Ironmen could get in at 7-3, but A LOT of chaos would have to happen for that to be a realistic option. An 8-2 mark might still not be enough, but it would give them a decent shot at getting the #8 seed.

WW will bring fewer fans than Jackson has members in the band.
