Sheridan (7-0) vs Tri-Valley (6-1)
Undefeated and 3rd ranked Sheridan travels to 6-1 (5-0 MVL) Tri-Valley. Sheridan's starting defense hasn't been scored on to this point. They have led every game but one by a minimum of 35 points by early second quarter. That said, they haven't played a quality team yet. Tri-Valley has also beat on the rest of the league, they also upset a powerful Dover squad with a pair of goal line stands and a 99 yard drive to win 24-21. The lone loss came in the opener at D1 Upper Arlington, they gave up a game winning 38 yard TD pass with seven seconds remaining. Pastuer has them favored over the generals by a touchdown. Should be a great game. Thoughts?

Turn-overs in a close match-up usually determine the winner and this game could go either way. Should be a good one.

Re: Sheridan (7-0) vs Tri-Valley (6-1)
Much more of a MUST win for Tri-Valley - the Scotties don't want to have to play "wait and see" during weeks 9 and 10 on the playoff chase.
Sheridan is sitting pretty, even with a loss.
Still, Sheridan is pretty darn good and TV went up and challenged a good Upper Arlington team. Should be a heckuva game.

Sheridan 28
Tri-Valley 7
Half time
TV scored on a pick 6 so Sheridans starting Defense still hasn't been scored on.

Re: Sheridan (7-0) vs Tri-Valley (6-1)
This Sheridan team is probably the best rounded team since '03 when they last beat Steuby. They have better than a good chance at winning R11.
Re: Sheridan (7-0) vs Tri-Valley (6-1)
Looks like it will come down to Steuby and Sheridan again although Alliance might have something to say,but in the playoffs you just never know when going on the regular season .Every year there is huge surprises and never forget a couple years ago when they had that great team and nobody gave eastmoor a chance and the generals got whipped!

In my opinion, the region will be won by Sheridan or Marlington.C-Bolt wrote:Looks like it will come down to Steuby and Sheridan again although Alliance might have something to say,but in the playoffs you just never know when going on the regular season .Every year there is huge surprises and never forget a couple years ago when they had that great team and nobody gave eastmoor a chance and the generals got whipped!
Anyone that knows football was giving eastmoore a very good chance. They were a very senior laden team and had athletes coming out of their behind. They were very good & showed it by being State-Runnerups. Also, this Sheridan team is much better than that one, imo. They're much better rounded and can throw the ball quite well as well as run people over which they like to do.
Re: Sheridan (7-0) vs Tri-Valley (6-1)
Great win Generals. Congrads to the team and the Sheridan community. Well the scrimmages are over as is 8 games and this group IMO should now be mentioned with the all time " BEST" at Sheridan H.S. It took something more than talent to go into Tri Valley after seeing pretty much no competition at all for 8 weeks and totally dominate the football game. The schedule talk should now be put away as they have showed they can beat or " Beat Up " the good quality teams! As far as comments or opinions on what are the ": Best Ever Teams" at Sheridan, opinions differ and always will. You have the " Old Timers " like me that are going to hold on to the 1987 team and God knows they did not have the speed, size, and strenght to compete with the studs of todays football teams. You will always have the Homers that no matter what will say that the group their kids year is the best. I like to talk football with folks that can do it with some intelligence. Amost all I talk with list the 1987, 2004, 2008 and this years group in the class as " Best Ever" Each team was different, and better or worse in different areas of the game. The 2004 and 2008 faced outstanding competition and talent, this years teams faced proboly the worst teams I can remember in a long time.
Most I talk with feel the 2004 and the 2008 teams would beat this years group in a real head to head game, just too strong. But all agree the huge difference maker is the QB this year, Myers. I know one thing for sure, all three were and are outstanding football teams and three of the best this area has seen! As far as the region, I would not start talking too much smack about a program like Stuebenville because they lost a couple of games. I do feel that the Eastmoor team of 2008 was easily better than any team this year in Sheridan's region and a Sheridan matches up better with the teams in this years region. Good Luck Generals and we all hope you have a great run in the playoffs.

Agree, hard to compare across years for sure. We are lucky to have had so many talented teams. Best of luck to both Sheridan and TV in the playoffs, I feel they will still make it in.

Re: Sheridan (7-0) vs Tri-Valley (6-1)
Tri-Valley's problem (vis-a-vis Zanesville, as they apparently rank 8-9 per Joe Eitel) is that while both play teams with similar records in the next two weeks, Tri-Valley's opponents are Division III and Zanesville's are Division II. Tri-Valley's "advantage" is that it has some guaranteed Level 2 points due to league wins, which we can not count on in our independent situation. A key game for TV is this week's Coshocton-Dover game -- the Scotties need for the Tornadoes to keep winning, just as we need Licking Valley to do the same (since our other opponents to date have not been all that helpful, and may not be the rest of the way).
Re: Sheridan (7-0) vs Tri-Valley (6-1)
I wouldn't rule out Steubie winning the region. Loss at D-I Massillon and home loss to Ursuline, one of the Top 10 teams in the state , regardless of division. If , and only if Marlington goes unbeaten would I give them a shot. Sheridan is possible but wouldn't call them a lock. This division may also have a surprise team in it as well.
Re: Sheridan (7-0) vs Tri-Valley (6-1)
I agree, Tri Valley although a very good team and program now is no Stuebenville, not even close. Many feel that Ursiline is the best team in the state regardless of division. I don't have an argument on that, and based on divsion 1 recruits I would agree they could be the most talented! Does anyone know how many undefeated regular season teams Culver has had at Sheridan? I know 1987, 2008 were but I believe 2004 lost one in regular season. We were thinking 5 ? Unless they have a total mental meltdown this group should be another undefeated team, and I dont see a Culver coached team having a meltdown or not being ready.

Coach Culver has six 10-0 seasons and is about to make it a seventh. 14 MVL Titles, 16 play-off appearances, and hasn't had a losing season since 1989.
