Does any school have a chance
Does any school have a chance
Lets be honest here. Does any school in SE ohio have a chance at a deep playoff run besides Ironton this year?
Re: Does any school have a chance
I agree, with the talent they have every year they have a chance at a run.Jottings wrote:Maybe Wheelersburg.

Reigion 19 this year is so different, having 4 Wayne county schools. Most people down here do not know much about them, if they even are playoff caliber, but if they are, then things can be very interesting.

As big as a fan I am for the Pirates, they will have to prove me wrong, but I see them limping into the playoffs with a possibility of not making it. They are really young. Hope I'm wrong. West, Ironton, and Valley could make deep runs,,, a sleeper would be symmes valley...heard they are senior loaded from a decent squad last year.

I hope several have a "deep playoff run".
How many SE Ohio teams have made the final four in football in this century? I know Portsmouth West did; any others?
Ironton should have at least twice, but of course close doesn't count.

Every school has a "chance". If they work hard in the offseason and get a few lucky breaks during the year, have no injuries, and get in the playoffs then they have as good a chance as any other school that gets in.

I'm not sure where Trimble is located and I really never associated them with football, but according to Tomcat15 in another post Trimble should be in the championship game.

I know the Wayne County teams very well. They are no better than any team from SE Ohio. Norwayne and Smithville can both probably make the playoffs, and they are not pushovers; but they aren't any better than other SE Ohio teams. It was the Wayne County teams that initiated this competitive balance vote. Their ADs cried because they were in the same region every year with Ursuline, so they moved the crybabies. As a result I hope a SOC team hangs 50 on one of them in the playoffs.

What does this mean? Are you saying The Burg is going to be bad? Because if you think anyone is going to be suprised that Burg has a good year, they have been laying under a rock the past 30 years. Burg is always good and will no doubt be good again this year.Blackjack wrote:Wheelersburg will surprise everyone this year. Be prepared.
I say watch out for Portsmouth. They have something to prove.
Re: Does any school have a chance
They are located in the Athens County Disrtict in a city called Glouster. Minford has in the past played Trimble. They seem to run the concession stands at the OU Convo during the basketball tourney and they play in the TVC. Teams on their schedule include: Belpre, South Gallia, Federal Hocking and the like and finished at 7-4 last season. Not sure what they return this year though.

Re: Does any school have a chance
What scares me for the se ohio teams in region 19 is that, there may be at most 3 or 4 that make it to the playoffs now. Last year 2 teams north of I70 made it, now there could be 4-5 or more. That makes it VERY difficult for a very good Wheelersburg team or a very good Nelsonville-York team to get in, or not have a 4-5 hour bus ride to a first round game.

LOL Come on '87Chieftans.....
You should read some of his posts. By the sounds of it, Bret Farve is trying to decide between the Vikings or Trimble High School. Pretty sweet gig if you ask me.

Wayne County will probably get 2 in... either Norwayne, Smithville, or Waynedale... if things go right maybe all 3 will make it, but none of them are unbeatable powerhouses. I don't know what Ridgewood or Fredricktown have. Ridgewood has majorly upgraded their schedule by adding Martins Ferry, Liberty Center, and Apple Creek Waynedale. I don't think they can beat Ferry. The other two they can beat. Finally they probably won't have to go 10-0 in order to make the playoffs. I haven't read much about Fredricktown to know how much they graduated.indianabuck wrote:What scares me for the se ohio teams in region 19 is that, there may be at most 3 or 4 that make it to the playoffs now. Then you now have Columbus Academy in 19 now. I have no idea what they have.
If I had to guess I would say SE Ohio will have 4 spots... 3 if Columbus Academy is a player this year.

They may be beatable, but now the majority will be from the north, and not here, which will hurt our exposure.
