Re: WEEK 1 Portsmouth West (0-0) @ Fairland (0-0)
After seeing Fairland Friday night, they are much improved and in much better shape than last year.
They are not a huge team but they are quick. QB likes to run out of the pocket and they looked very efficient throwing quick passes.
Although I dont think West will have many problems with them it might be a very close game through the first half or even first 3 quarters.

One-sided affair here. I think I'll stay home for this one. Who's QB'ing this year? Bricker?

Yes Bricker is the quarterback, very very smooth behind that big offensive line of West! You cant tell that this is his first year at qb since pee wee years !

I seen Bricker throwing the other at practice. He throws a good ball, I just hope they let him get his feet wet before he is in a 3rd and long and has to make a big throw. With a little confedence under his belt I think he will do fine.

The biggest question mark in this game will be will West have more coaches on the sidelines than Fairland has players???
Re: WEEK 1 Portsmouth West (0-0) @ Fairland (0-0)
The only game taking place in Lawrence County in week 1 doesn't look to be a good one. West wins with a typical one-sided SOCII v OVC score.

Fairland usually plays us tough for at least a half. They generally have good speed. Their spread generally causes us problems, but eventually our size, strength, and conditioning takes over.
Fairland usually has some trick plays that they run. They really go all-in on this game where West plays a little more vanilla with our rival Portsmouth in week 2.

Their QB is decent and their RB is very quick. Overall like you said a fast team.siderman wrote:Fairland usually plays us tough for at least a half. They generally have good speed. Their spread generally causes us problems, but eventually our size, strength, and conditioning takes over.

Qb is good at throwing quick out passes and runs pretty decent out of the pocket. I dont think West will have too many problems but I would expect it to be close for a while. Those OVC schools always play good against the SOC II because they are "playing up" and have a chance to prove a point during those games.
Good luck tonight and go SOC II

Its no secret. We struggle at times against skilled spread teams.
But the real question is Fairland's defense. Can the stop power rushing for 4 quarters? If they can't, they are in big trouble.

Minford had little trouble running the ball on them after they made a few minor tweaks. I dont see West having a problem running the ball right at them all night.

West easily wins this one and should go undefeated in the OVC again.
