Re: Week 4: 0-3 South Point @ 0-3 Vinton County
I'm definitely pulling for v.c. But if v.c. cant get the win against south point at home Friday, Its gonna be another long season for the vikings. If they cant beat south point then IMO, they will probably go 0-10. I would hate this but i cant see a win after south point if they cannot get W against sp friday
Re: Week 4: 0-3 South Point @ 0-3 Vinton County
question for south point fans ? does anyone know where that woodard boy is at? i noticed he is not plaing football this yr? i have watched that kid off and on for a few yrs now and was kinda dissapointed not to see him play this yr. he is a good ball player. just wondering?
Re: Week 4: 0-3 South Point @ 0-3 Vinton County
Vinton County comes in losers of 11 straight and look to end the streak against the Pointers. If the Vikings can control the line and win the turnover battle, I think this is a game they can win. South Point is down as well and I'm sure feel the same way. This could be a shot I'm the arm for whichever team comes out on top. For the Vikings ..they are very young at the skill positions and a big win would definitely help going in to TVC Ohio play in two weeks. Last week, Bloom Carroll was physically too much for VC. This should be a pretty good game between two teams looking to make a step in the right direction.
Re: Week 4: 0-3 South Point @ 0-3 Vinton County
Looking forward to this Friday's game between VC & SP. Sometimes when a program has been down for awhile, it is so very easy to get down on both the Coaches and the Players. I will support the Viking's through thick and thin. I am not going to talk bad about the Coaches or Players. It is a hard job to rebuild a program that has been down, but one main thing to remember is that we can't turn things around as fast as we sometimes want, and changing Coaches every year or so won't help. Even though we are 0-3 at this point, the program is winning the small battles that will lead to success if they, and the community, just stick with it. We have a great group of kid's giving it all every week. They don't need to hear some of the stuff that is being said from the stands. Support them no matter what their record is. We are young and are gaining valuable experience along the way. We have some great seniors who have stuck it out for 4 years. So many other kids just don't want to put in the time or commitment to play these days.
We only have one High School in the County, but a lot of kid's don't play because of the cost. With gas prices near or at 4.00 a gallon, and the County being so spread out, it has to hurt a lot in getting more players out to play. But every other School faces the same issues. Everything runs in cycles. We are on an upswing and it won't be long before we are back where we should be. I will be there supporting the Vikings this Friday, win lose or draw. Hope for an injury free game for both teams.

Re: Week 4: 0-3 South Point @ 0-3 Vinton County
From what I gather neither team has won since week 2 of last season. So what gives here? both teams looking to break a losing trend and boost themselves for conference play. Like many of the VC faithful I feel if SP does not win this game they more than likely will go 0-10. SP is so young and inexperienced you really don't know what you are going to get from week to week. Late in the Wellston game you could see the SP offense start to get first downs and move the ball simply because the starting Sophomores and Freshman were now playing against kids their age/skill set (Wellston's JV). SP used the big play a lot to gain ground and put points up on the board against the Rockets but the defense faltered against the running attack that Wellston brought to the table. Like someone stated earlier the team with the fewest turnovers I feel wins this game. SP has to eliminate mental mistakes, whether it be by penalty, blown assignment, or turnover. I understand the youth of this team is an issue but at some point they must grow together and stop with the pointless mistakes. I'm mostly concerned with the amount of penalties they have racked up over the course of 3 weeks.

If South Point loses this game, they have a better chance at picking up a win later in the year against Rock Hill, River Valley, or maybe even Chesapeake than Vinton County does in the TVC. South Point really surprised me by hanging around for a half against Wellston. This is a toss up to me, but I'd lean with the home team. Having seen first-hand the disaster that has unfolded at South Point over the past few years, I'll have to really be inspired before I'll pick them to win a game. A win on the road against a larger school would be a great start.

the woodard boy did not play this year, due to the fact the new coach felt they he deserved to be punished because he went to play in the senior league state baseball tournament. and was back for the first pratice. so he felt it was wrong for him to have to due the same punishment that kids who just didnt show up for his what ever events.

Good win for the Vikes. IMO they have to stay focused through all four quarters. Defense allowed more points than they should have and offense gave up a turnover in the red zone and turned the ball over on downs twice on good drives. The score could have and should have been a little more lopsided. not taking anything away from SP. Them boys HIT HARD!!! Just ask VC #25. SP like us is very young but show alot of promise for the future. This is a team I'd like to see us grow with for about 5 more years. It would be a very competitive series that both sets of kids could get a lot out of.
