Coal Grove week one is rumored to be home against River Valley.

How do you think the league will shape up this year? Who will stand out?

Ironton fans will talk about how they will make a deep run.
After week 3 they will be calling for the coaches head.
After they run the table and win the league they will calm down but spend weeks talking about the good ole days.

As a Tiger alum and fan, I believe their days of deep runs are over. When they do make the playoffs, they are not only 1 and done but beaten pretty badly in doing so. Still there is always hope.

Chesapeake loses three huge pieces but they have the talent to keep the beat going. Austin Browning will take over at QB and he has a cannon for an arm. Good runner as well but not nearly as good as McComas. I expect a 7-3 or 8-2 season, hopefully in the OVC hunt

After a winning season, the Trojans of Portsmouth are hoping for continued improvement, is 7-3 possible ?

I think it could end up about the same as last year:

1 Ironton

2. Chesapeake
3. Portsmouth
4. Rock Hill
5. Fairland
6. Coal Grove
7. Gallia Academy
8. South Point

Could possibly switch Chesapeake and Portsmouth. Portsmouth has more talent possibly, but Peake will have a better plan of attack. Rock Hill has a solid core returning. Fairland has key players returning and ended the season strong. Coal Grove lost many 3 year and 2 year starters that will be hard to replace. Gallia Academy ended with a win, but only one win. South Point...well...

If the kids at Rock Hill buy into new coach Hammer's way of playing and the school board lets him run his program the way he wants...you will see Rock Hill move steadily up that list.

Hammer will definitely make a difference. I don't think think the difference will be felt for 2 years though. The culture will have to change to experience consistent success, discipline will have to be instilled, and I just don't know how fast you can do those things at RH. I'm sure he'll have some resistance, but he can get the job done!

Any word on his staff?

Ironton should be the team to beat in southern Ohio with Wheelersburg being their only regular season competition as long as things stay the way they are for the next couple of seasons. Ironton has been plagued with injuries the past couple of seasons and still held their own winning and making the playoffs. If they can have a couple of seasons of injury free football Ironton could be real good. They are way ahead of schedule right now from where they have been in the last couple of years as far as lifting. I am looking for a fun season for this year's crew.
