Rain all week may be a factor?
Rain all week may be a factor?
With rain in the forcast all week and temps in the 40's it could be come a factor. Is Minford and Ironton the only local school on grass? I think this will benefit boths these teams and there style of offense. With the rain being over by Saturday and playing on turf field conditions shouldn't be a factor for Valley and Burg but could temps will make ball security an issue in the running and passing game. As for Symmes Valley I know in the past they were a running team havent heard much about them this year so I assume they still are which would be to there advantage.

According to what I saw on the news tonight next weekend is supposed to be very nice weather wise. I guess we'll see.

it will only be a factor for all the losing teams, as everyone likes to make excuses
Re: Rain all week may be a factor?
The weather will be more of a factor in practices and preparation. I would guess that some or all practice times are being adjusted at least a little with these conditions. The forecast does look like good football weather for Friday and Saturday.

Gallia Academy had puddles forming between the 30-yard lines as of 6 p.m. Monday night at Memorial Field.
McNicholas plays its home games on field turf.

It would suck if you were awarded a home game and then the OHSSA decided that your field was not playable and you had to go to another field. Is that possible?

In 2009, Wheelersburg played "@" Monroe Central the first round of the playoffs, but the game was moved to Marietta College because their field was in such bad shape. I'm not sure if it was an OHSAA decision or was MC's decision.

MC's decision, they thought turf gave their fast guys an advantage. Bit them in the butt; Craigmiles, Shank and Lang all ran for 200+ each

Re: Rain all week may be a factor?
I don't think they ran for that many yards, but they did have a great game. The JUMBO formation was a classic! 3 linemen behind the TE was very hard to stop!footballnut wrote:MC's decision, they thought turf gave their fast guys an advantage.
