Week 11: #7 Notre Dame(8-2) @ #2 Covington(10-0)
The Titans complete a great regular season by entering the playoffs for the first time since 2007. Ironically playing the exact same team in 2007. Never got to go to this game due to work traveling, but heard it wasn't good. But this is 6 years later. No doubt the Titans are going to have to be mistake free and play the best ball game all season to have a shot. Maybe even some luck. But I know they'll give all they have to defeat the Bucs. Thoughts/Predictions?
Re: Week 11: #7 Notre Dame(8-2) @ #2 Covington(10-0)
Both teams love to run the ball, as good as the Notre Dame backs are, Covington has one single guy that can absolutely tear up a defense. Titans HAVE TO contain him and force everything back inside, if not he could easily rush for 300 yards. I believe he is over 2000 yards this season.
As for the Titans, they have to have a balanced offensive approach. They must pass the ball some to open up the run game. Major needs not to throw the long ball, but roll outs or 5-10-15 yards will help chip away at the defense. Smith and Kayser better come with the mentality that no one can bring them down and run harder than they ever have.
Playoffs are a great thing, hopefully ND can make the long ride up and bring home a W.

Long bus ride, even longer night. Sure wish ND would win, but not gonna happen. Covington huge!

I have not seen ND play this year so I can't comment on the Titans. I do know they are well coached and will play hard.
I have seen Covington . . . they run the Flexbone Triple Option and run it very very well.

My father is a graduate of Portsmouth Notre Dame. Best of luck to the Titans. Unfortunately, I don't see it going well for them.

Thanks for the support --- i am guessing R.P. is yourt father.
ND does well to be so small. They will have their hands full this Saturday.
If they can establish the run game it may be interesting.

Titans need Tim Maxey back at tailback to have a shot at this one!

Haha Tim was one of the best backs out of ND if I'm not mistaken he was a big part of that undefeated, unscored on 88 team. But I will say Dakota Smith and Jack Kayser could hold their own in the backfield. Also two of the better backs ND has seen. The titans will have to pass the ball to have a chance and the defense will just have to have the most miraculous night. Covington has a back #12 I believe that is a stud. Gotta wrap up and hit him low. If he gets the edge he will go the distance.

Tim finished in the top 5 for Ohio's Mr. Football in 1988 won by a guy named Robert Smith. Btw, 1987 season was the unscored upon Titans.TitanPride wrote:Haha Tim was one of the best backs out of ND if I'm not mistaken he was a big part of that undefeated, unscored on 88 team. WOW! I just took a trip back to when I was 9/10 years old watching the unscored upon "Dog Defense" then the season that Maxey put up in '88. I'm liable to have dreams tonight of Brian Borders booming punts 40+ yards at a time!!! 8)The Oaf wrote:Tim finished in the top 5 for Ohio's Mr. Football in 1988 won by a guy named Robert Smith.
