I think the Hill will win this one.they have been plying really good lately. Plus they do pass a litte and the Peake has trouble covering the pass.

That is too bad. I guess we will not be seeing either teams band then. The Rock Hill band and Chesapeake band will both be performing at State Finals tomorrow.

Bad bench emptying fight. Game was called with a little over 3 minutes to play.

Senior night with two teams playing for 4th place in the OVC. Both have had a VERY frustrating year, with the Hill having a whole high school career of frustration. It was just a matter of time before it came to blows. Not saying either team was responsible I could just see why.

Scoreboard said 38 - 20
This could have been a great game. However, the refs let this one get out of control.

There was some bad calls on both sides. But, officials did not cost RH the game. OHSAA needs to start an investigation into the behavior of RH coaches, players, and fans.

I never said that, You are putting words in my mouth. There were late hits and cheap shots coming from both teams. The fans were just as bad on both sides. When I walked in Cotton eyed joe was playing and the Peaks fan were chanting kill the hillbillies. The entire situation was a disgrace to both teams and their fans, and the game of football itself. And Yes the Ref's did make bad calls both ways. Both teams, fans, and the refs are to blame, I am only stating the ref's should have controlled the game much better than they did.

Hillbillies? That's just too funny. Who are they to call the kettle black?

When I played in the '60s, we often baited the other team by heaping aspersions upon their ancestry, manhood, bodily functions, etc. when there were no officials near enough to hear us. We often employed the now-illegal tactic of "bell-ringing", that is, smacking the ear hole of an opponent's helm with a padded forearm. We wouldn't hesitete to use the helmet as a weapon when we could. We did these things, and had it done to us. we understood it was just a part of football, but fights sometimes still occurred.

I remembered the three most-important rules of a footbrawl-keep the helmet on, throw body shots, and no kicking or stomping. (I went to Huntington Vinson.) We generally had about two skirmishes a year, but only one major in 3 years, with Buffalo-Wayne.

Now, I'm not defending nor excusing those tactics, but they've been part of football since the game was invented. Verbal baiting is intended to make the opponent commit infractions, or make them so angry they don't execute properly. And virtually every player will retaliate against a 'dirty' tactic when he gets the chance, and will defend his teammate against an attack. After all, we were teenagers then, same as today's HS players now are.

Now, from what I'm able to find out about this incident at Peake, several RH players jumped on one Peake player, and naturally, his teamies came to his defense. I don't know what precipitated the attack, but some facts can't be ignored-that the RH players were frustrated, especially the seniors who were playing their last minutes of organized football, and a lotta verbal baiting was going on from both teams.

I'm told the Peake player suffered a shoulder injury and a concussion. I also heard that several Peake players might be suspended from school. If that were to happen to a son of mine, I'd call Meyer & Perfater, as it's only natural for a player to defend a teammate who's under assault. I have no report from anyone at RH about what action their officials might take, but I believe the incident should be investigated by higher authorities.
