First true test on the young ironmen team this year lets see if that defense is really good and see if our offense can put up some numbers against a really good west Jeff team. That being said as much as I hate to if Jackson doesn't come out and play there asses off all four quarters this could get ugly for them. Good luck red.

West Jefferson Roughriders lose to defending state champs Marion Local tonight, but will be a much different team than the Ironmen have faced in weeks 1 and 2. Gonna be a tough test and road game...we will see next Saturday if a young Jackson team can hang with a quality opponent.

Jackson has done everything they were supposed to do the first two weeks of the season. They have looked pretty solid overall, and we all knew coming in how talented they were going to be. With only a couple seniors starting, the young guys have all stepped up and played well. Now we'll start to find out how good the team truly is. This week gives the Ironmen a chance to prove themselves against a quality football team in a tough environment.

West Jeff has had a lot of success over the last several years and they have a proud tradition dating back several decades. This is a great game for both programs, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the young Jackson squad responds. They haven't faced any adversity the first couple weeks, but they will this week. Can they respond well when things don't go their way? Can they execute late in the 4th quarter when the game is on the line and they're not up by 40 or 50 points? Those are the questions that need to be answered.

Coach Hall and his staff will have the Ironmen prepared, just as Coach Buescher and his staff will have the Roughriders ready to go. As always, it'll come down to taking care of the football, executing offensively, and playing solid defense. Hoping to see the Ironmen make the trip up here, play with confidence and swagger, and go back down to Jackson with win #3.

I think I'll pick Jackson for this one, and that's only if they score first. If they score first, I'd go with 28-14. The way the team played against Waverly, it seemed all these players were hungry to play and very aggressive. If they keep the offense fresh, the team should do good. Be nice to see some no huddle offense thrown in there early. Defense looking better, just need the secondary to pick it up. If WJ scores first, it could be a long bus ride back to Jackson.

I will be making my 2nd trip ever to West Jefferson to take this one in.

It will mark the first time I have caught Jackson play in person.

As for the game I think the bigger school takes this one.

I believe our "young" Ironmen may be able to prove themselves if they play the way they have been, and then some. They may be "young" but not one kid on that team plays like it. With the long bus ride lets hope they are focused and ready for the atmosphere in West Jeff. I have to go with my ironmen here and to be honest I'm not doubting them one bit. I'm going to go with a hard fought 24-18 Jackson. GO RED!

Opening home game for West Jefferson this week, and after losing to defending state champions Marion Local last week I am sure the Roughriders of WJ will be fired up and ready to play. They caused 4 turnovers against Marion Local last week so at some point during this week's game Jackson will see some adversity...if they handle it well and grind it out and compete then we may be on to a year that no one was expecting (except the players and coaching staff), and wouldn't that be special. Sure would ratchet up Week 4 talk with Athens lol....but first things first...Go Red

Not sure Jackson can play with Athens ! Hope so but a liile to young . Lets get week 3 win first . Div 3 against Div 5 should win but WJ is quality div 5 team Guess we will find out Sat night

First off, I'd like to say great win last week against Waverly. I think we managed to focus on some good football mechanics and actually work on fundamentals. Now, to talk about this upcoming task. We're traveling a good way up the road to take on a very good West Jeff team. By all means this is a very good football team even despite the loss against the defending state champs last week. However I think this week we need to get back to traditional Jackson football. Run the ball and play defense. Score early and keep the ball away from West Jeff. I'm sure the masterminded Larry Hall will have some different defensive schemes to put into play and put our players right where they need to be. Most importantly we have to stay calm. Play football, give the ball to Griffiths and Crabtree and let them do work. Offensive line this week is yours, lets see what you guys are really made of. Good luck fellas, See ya in WJ
