Re: JACKSON IRONMEN 2015
Is it true that we are joining a league with that school from West Virginia? Hannah High School? Heard the mayors were putting together a plan.
Re: JACKSON IRONMEN 2015
Scrimmage: 8/15 - Washington Court House
Scrimmage: 8/21 - @ Nelsonville-York
Week 1: 8/29 - Wellston
Week 2: 9/4 - Chillicothe
Week 3: 9/11 - @ West Jefferson
Week 4: 9/19 - Granville
Week 5: 9/25 - Wheelersburg
Week 6: 10/2 - @ Warren
Week 7: 10/9 - @ Logan
Week 8: 10/16 - @ Meigs
Week 9: 10/24 - Oxford Talawanda
Week 10: 10/30 - Gallia Academy
That's a pretty tough schedule overall. Chillicothe was one win away from the playoffs last season. West Jeff was a regional finalist, and playing very well once they got some experience. Granville lost to Athens in the playoffs. Talawanda was a D3 playoff team. Wheelersburg was a regional finalist last season as well. I know Logan has some pretty high expectations this season. All of those games will be big tests for the Ironmen, and the games I didn't mention could be as well. This schedule should certainly help prepare Jackson for the playoffs if they're fortunate enough to end up there. Plenty of computer points out there for the taking.

By the way, Jackson will be looking for its 600th win in program history this season if things go well. There's some dispute about the true number, but I believe Jackson currently sits at 591 wins in program history, which is good enough to rank 31st all-time in the state of Ohio.

Re: JACKSON IRONMEN 2015
Excerpt from JJHuddle Region 9 Preview that was out today:
**Jackson (11-1, Region 9 Semifinalist): The Ironmen appear ready to take the next step. Jackson returns senior QB Hunter Sexton (5-11, 200) who threw for 830 yards and seven TDs and ran for 696 yards and four TDs last year. He’ll be joined in the backfield by a stable of talent. Junior RB Johnny Farley (5-6, 150/595 yards rush, eight TDs), junior RB Raymon Potter (6-2, 215/582 yards rush, eight TDs) and senior RB Jacob Crabtree (6-2, 200/278 yards rush, nine TDs) all return. Last year’s leading WR is also back in senior Austin Leach (6-0, 160/21 rec., 414 yards rec, four TDs). Senior K Sheldon Moore (5-10, 182) is a weapon. Senior DB Collin Massie (5-11, 182) leads the secondary. Potter is a tremendous LB. The line will be anchored by junior Codey Roseberry (6-2, 235).

Ironmen experiencing some injury issues, as mentioned above with Williams and some others with recurring problems from wrestling, baseball, etc. that will affect success over a difficult schedule. One of the top players mentioned above has moved out of state and won't be available and just adds to the list in recent years of kids that have moved or relocated. A senior starter on defense at DeSales this year and last year just a couple years ago was an Ironmen but moved to Columbus for a family job relocation; a player who will be a force with Oak Hill this year as a senior transferred a year ago; and there are a couple others as well. Always got to take the approach that "next man up", but at some point it gets tough to do. Add to the injuries and moves/transfers the fact we lost D1 Stanford Reagan Williams and last years core senior group of Rafferty, Staten, Humphreys, Sloop, Bachtel, Fairchild, Griffiths, etc., etc (too many to list) and we will have our hands full with what I think is our hardest regular season ever.
Coaching staff which is 49-16 in six years (I think that is right) will need to move some pieces and parts around to try and fill the voids. Look for different kids in different spots the first scrimmages and Week 1-2 until something is found that works. Can't wait too long as Wellston is a rivalry game and Chillicothe was a Region 9 top team last year.

Re: JACKSON IRONMEN 2015
Very winnable region. Everyone lost a lot. Good luck and I'm still rooting for an Athens vs Logan week 13 at Logan
Re: JACKSON IRONMEN 2015
Just read the jjuddle link. Hate to burst anyone at Jackson's bubble and not trying to stir the @#$!, but Ironmen are in for a long season. Too many expectations and too much pressure will result in 5-5 season.
Top Ten Reasons Why Jackson gets beat in Week 1 by my Golden Rockets:
10) Jackson players worried about who will be featured on WOUB Grid Iron Glory; Wellston players being groomed as a team not as individuals
09) Jackson playing not to lose; Wellston playing to win
08) Jackson players and staff on vacation thinking about Week 11; Wellston players and staff focused and tunnel visioned on Week 1
07) Jackson players lifting their fingers and thumbs to tweet; Wellston players power lifting and training hard - several kids putting up huge numbers
06) Jackson resting on last year laurels; Wellston ready to start something new
05) Wellston first year assistant coaches Rinehart, Humphries and Humphries will leave no stone unturned to win - personally know the Ironmen playbook - tendencies
04) Wellston first year head coach Philips knows the last time Wellston beat the Ironmen with a first year head coach and will look to repeat history
03) Wellston skill players have much more team speed
02) Wellston line has more size and strength
01) Wellston is underrated not overrated and the fact of the matter is that karma always favors the underrated.
34-14 win in Alumni Stadium

Re: JACKSON IRONMEN 2015
Skill players have much more team speed? Forrest Hale will be the fastest guy on the field but considering all skill positions there is no way Wellston averages being MUCH faster.
Re: JACKSON IRONMEN 2015
There is a reason Wells ton has only beat Jackson once in the past twenty five years. And the one year Wells ton did beat Jackson back in 2010 I believe, Jackson then won 9 straight being 9-1 into the playoffs. So Jackson can't overlook Wellston.
Re: JACKSON IRONMEN 2015
Womeldorf-Cox perhaps best QB and RB combo on field; Williams duo and Brown perhaps strongest line players on field.Ironman92 wrote:Skill players have much more team speed? We should have a sniff of a Region 17 D5 play-off spot with wins in first 3 weeks and points from those teams.
When that happens and we play in Week 11, look for a sucking sound as all the Jackson athletes head BACK to Wellston to play in a lower division and have a LEAGUE to participate in, the times they are a changing.

Really...a "Lol" is the response, really. Ok I guess a typical smug response from an almightier than thou Jackson fan, I get it.
May wanna google Appy State vs. Michigan in the Big House and watch all those fans stream out of the stadium, and see if Alumni Stadium resembles that on a Saturday night in a few more weeks.

My son is incredibly fast....I think I'll go enroll him to Wellston tomorrow. He's not a football player but that doesn't matter.Dandy Don wrote:Really...a "Lol" is the response, really. Ok I guess a typical smug response from an almightier than thou Jackson fan, I get it.

No....won't be old enough this coming year. Next year though it would be nice to see him have success on the track like Mr. Hale. Maybe a deep threat in 10th-12th grades.Dandy Don wrote:No it doesn't matter you are correct. He can receive a great education and run in 1/2 of the Track Meets next year in the TVC League.

Good Luck to the Wellston kids and coaches this year. I've heard good things from people I know and trust. Plenty of athletes and a good group of experienced coaches.
