OHSAA to reclassify football divisions...THIS WEEK

Post by EagleFan89 »

Per Twitter, they will remove the "Community School" counts from the enrollment numbers and reclassify.

With respect to our area Region 9/13/17/21 how does this impact us...any City of Columbus schools moving up/down...which ones?

I could see Bishop Hartley and Columbus Eastmoor coming back down to R17. Also, this could change up the divisional cutoffs and move Burg down to D6, since we were only 2 boys away. We will have to see how it plays out.

I don't see anything on OHSAA's website about this. Will this apply to all sports where divisions have been established or only football?

Nelsonville-York will likely be back down to D6 missing it by 1 boy. Rock Hill will probably see a move down to D6 as well being 1 boy away.

I have Nelsonville-York, Rock Hill, Wheelersburg, BIshop Hartley, and Eastmoor all remaining in their divisions (my estimate), but Regions 13/17 could be reshaped with the other Columbus schools all dropping

In Region 9 maybe look for Columbus Beecroft and Marion Franklin to fall from D2 to D3...not sure but a distinct possibility.

This is getting to be as complicated (at least it seems) as the U.S. Tax code...seems like catering to a lot of different scenarios...and next year add in competitive balance maybe...impossible to account for everything...

Columbus City Schools hinted yesterday about potentially suing the OHSAA and that sure changed things. The rural schools should come together and threaten to sue the OHSAA for allowing Africentric to draw students from across the 15th biggest city in the nation, but allows them to compete in Division IV against the small country schools.

My guess is waverly, gallia academy and meigs will switch from region 13 to region 14. because some of the cincinatti schools will drop down to division 5. think minford may move back up to d4 and into that region also not sure what there number were.

So what happens if these charter school kids play? 134 extra kids is a huge advantage

curious if ironton stays where they were. the were 2 players away from d6 for the last couple of years. I'm assuming they won't since I'm not hearing anything.
