Coal Grove 46 Southeastern 22
(I am using hudl for the Coal Grove roster and for the Southeastern roster, I am using sepanthers.k12.oh.us/HighSchoolFootball.aspx)

Last night at Valley Indians Stadium in Lucasville high school, in Lucasville, ohio the Coal Grove Dawson Bryant Hornets battled the Southeastern Panthers. This was my first trip to the stadium and I have to say it is a fantastic place to catch a game. A lot of seats and one of the best lit stadiums I have been to this season, which includes stadiums in , ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.

The Hornets faced a fourth and ten, with 10:45 left in the opening quarter, when Nate Harmon found a wide open #23(NOT ON THE ROSTER) for an twenty-yard gain and a big first down. Harmon would use some nice work by the big boys up front to pick up six yards, he was tackled on the play by #40 John Winfield, with 10:16 showing on the clock. Harmon would get dropped by #20 Carson Stauffer for a four-yard loss, with 9:39 left in the quarter.

Defense was the king of the quarter and with 3:41 left, that continue to be the way in the opening quarter, when #20 Carson Stauffer was taken down for a eight-yard-loss by the trio of #2 Evan Holmes,#1 Sam Angelo and #34 Kimo Baldwin. Baldwin is a force on defense and as we found out later on offense as a blocker and a short yardage runner. This brought up a fourth and eighteenth and a punt from the Panthers.

Harmon would gain thirty-seven-yards, with a nice run and more big-time work by his offensive linemen, with 2:35 left in the quick moving opening quarter. The three-play, seventy-four-yard drive came to an end on a twetny-four-yard pass from Harmon to a wide-opened, #23. The point after kick was missed by,Holmes keeping this a 6-0 Coal Grov lead, with 2:11 left in the quarter.

The Panthers have a very potent rushing attack and that showed in a large way, when #20 Carson Stauffer galloped to a forty-three-yard run, with the tackle coming from #15 Joey Workman, with 1:46 left on the clock. The promising drive ended quickly and a punt would follow.

The clock read 8:06 left in the half, when Harmon connected with #2 Holmes, who was wide opened for a fifty-seven-yard touchdown. With a nice block from #34 Balwin Harmon crossed the goal line to complete a two-oint conversion run and made the a 14-0 game. The drive totaled eighty-two-yards and needed just five plays.

The Hornets offense was buzzing again with Harman picking up 15-yards, with 4:26 left in the half..Harman was able to break a poor tackling attempt on his way to the gain. The three-play,thirty-nine yard drive ended with a fourteen-yard touchdown run from #12 Kyle Sites, who broke a tackle on his way to the score. The point after was good and this was an 20-0 game with 4:09 left i In what had become a one-side half.

Just seven seconds later #25 Lane Ruby, the Panthers quarterback put the ball on the ground and coming up with it for the hornets was #1 Angelo/ The result after the fumble recovery was another touchdown by the Hornets, The score came on a Harman pass to #1 Angelo , from fifteen-yards out. A two point run was stopped by the Panthers and this remained a 26-0 game, with 2:12 left in the half.

In the last 1:17 of the half there was four big plays. The first came from Coal Grove, and that was a eight-yard sack by #52 Trey Hicks on #23 on Ruby. Then it was a seventeen-yard reception by #23 of Coal Grove. Then #23 had a thirty-nine-yard catch. The final play was a interception by #8 Raegan Shaeffer, of the Panthers in the end zone.

The Panthers were held to an unofficial 81-yards in the first half, with the Hornents netting 302-yards.
Coal Grove threw 13 times and completed 9 passes. Southestern threw just 4 passes, with just one being completed.

Southeastern came out in the third quarter and looked like an undefeated team as they moved the ball downfield. almost as if there was no defense going against them. The nine-play fifty-nine-yard drive ended with a a two-yard run from(I hope this was the correct player, a parent from Southeastern was able to see it) #17 Dakota Houser. A two-point conversion run by Ruby made this a 26-8 games, with 8:01 left in the third quarter.

Coal Grove would get a fifty-nine-yard from #19(NOT ON THE ROSTER) and a face masking penalty was called on the Panthers, moving the ball half the distance to the goal line. The three-play,sixty-one-yard drive ended with a four-yard run by #34 Baldwin. The kid seems to look for someone to hit even when he is the ball carrier. Another two-point conversion try was stopped by the Panthers, keeping this a 32-8 game. The quick response by the Hornets left no doubt about any comeback coming to be.

With 6:16 left in the quarter #30 Aarick Hill of the Panthers coughed the ball up and making the recovery for the Hornets was #15 Workman. Nine seconds later #12 Kyle Sites picked up thirteen-yards and then he capped the five-play, fifty-one-yard drive, with a twenty-four-yard run touchdown run. The point after kick gave us a 39-8 score, with 3:31 left in the quarter.

With 10:11 left in the game #12 Sites picked up thirty-eight-yards. The kid is another weapon for the Hornets, that makes it difficult for any defense to key on just one player. #34 Baldwin would power his was for a nineteen-yard run, with 8:42 left. The Hornets last score came on a six-yard run by #23.The point after made this a 46-8 game, with 7:44 left.

The Panthers, who never quit would get two scores in the last 4:17 seconds of the game and the few fans that remained on the home side gave them cheers, as if they had just won the game each time.
The first score came on a thirty-seven-yard run by #20 Carson Stauffer. He also converted a two-point run to make the score 46-16.
The last score of the game came on a forty-five-yard run from #17 Dakota Houser, to give us the final score 46-22.

Thanks.

On the passing remark.
I saw this the first time I watched SE play and then spoke to a coach about it and he basically said the same thing, during the regular season.
