Wellston Rocket Football Outlook 2018

Bored so I figured I'd start a thread for the Golden Rockets just to give them and coach Lucas a little praise. I know academics aren't really a sports subject but was very proud to hear that the football team was recognized by the state for boasting the 8th highest cumulative GPA across all divisions. While it is nice to win a lot of games the fact of the matter is we are talking about shaping young men's and sometimes women's lives and I believe coach Lucas has done a great job at that. Also, Wellston's power lifting team won their regional meet out of 14 teams and get to compete at the state meet. Great Things are happening here under coach Lucas. I believe if they keep working hard in the weight room this off season could see an improved record and finally get over that .500 hump.

It's going to be hard to beat Meigs this year with their new transfers and athens will be good because they are so big. I think we can finish 3rd though. Maybe 2nd with some luck. We'll be above 500 for sure.

Yes with the transfers coming in and NFL coaching at Meigs they will be hard to beat. I can see a deep playoff run after they decimate the TVC Ohio.

Wellston and their academic performance is just plain impressive. regardless of records and what have ya most of these kids are going to play football through high school and after that well then the real world sets in and these kids excelling in the classroom the way they do means they are well prepared to make a successful life after high school with their brains! remember they are student/athletes.....meaning students FIRST then athletes......hats off to the coaching staff and more importantly hats off to the teachers that are educating these young men.....GREAT JOB GOLDEN ROCKETS!!! way to make your community and Jackson County proud!!!

Vibe I am getting is that this has been one of the better off-seasons we have had in a while, high expectations that this transfer over come Fall.

Sort of hard to compete with the TVC Biggest school in atown. Time for the TVC to impeach the bulldogs If atown keeps having these bad years they will be headed to the PVC.

I think 5-5 would be a successful year this year. The Rockets are young ( starting a soph quarterback, im assuming). Lost a nice tailback to graduation. So i believe anything over 4 wins will be a good year this year.

Wellston will win at least 6 games this season. The soph. QB is coming along quite nicely and will have a sold o-line to protect him and will have plenty of talented players to get the ball too.

this team could easily be 7-3...........the numbers are there.....kids buying into the philosophy is there......minus the Jackson, Athens, NY games they get the breaks to fall their way 7-3 is not unthinkable.....and let Jackson, Athens, NY overlook the rockets or take them lightly they will have trouble them with too......the ingredients for a solid football team are there
