let's get some thoughts on this one. burg is comin in off a very impressive 47-17 win over D3 Bishop Watterson while jackson is comin in off a 49-20 win over D2 Western Brown.

If your from Jackson, just sit back and enjoy the show with us. Not trying to be arrogant or cocky in the least. This Burg team is truly a football machine. They are fundamentally sound and they have a high football IQ. QB is a smart kid and very skilled. #2 is a freak. Defense is outstanding. Running the ball is going to be a huge task for anyone.

That's a big IF. plus there is Dyer, Carmichael, Lowery the list could go on and on. Holden is one thing. If you focus too much on him they will burn you somewhere else. Oh. And don't throw over the middle. Burg by a running clock.

Wheelersburg is obviously the heavy favorite against everyone they play until the playoffs. I figured they would beat Watterson, but I didn't expect them to drop 47 on them. So many weapons on offense, great defense, well-coached. The Burg is the real deal. One of their best teams ever, and quite possibly their most talented team in their storied history.

That said, Jackson has a solid team and they'll be playing at home. Burg has taken 4 out of 5 from them since the series resumed as a regular season game, so Jackson should be very motivated. It'll take a great effort from the Ironmen to pull off the upset, but that's why they play the games. Gotta find a way to cover Tanner Holden, pressure Salyers, and then make sure that all the other talented athletes don't beat you as well. The best way to do that is probably for Jackson to run the football, keep the clock moving, and control time of possession. Much easier said than done against the Burg defense though.

Whatever happens, it's a battle of unbeatens in the best stadium in SE Ohio. Luckily I'll be home in Jackson for the weekend and get to watch this one in person. Hope it's a classic!

They toned it down a little bit tonight. They have definitely been working on things. A couple calls didn't really matter and another should have been an offsides. But anyway, I agree. Heading further into the season they have to limit those. They are getting better.

With Ironton falling way off, Portsmouth dropping us, and no other SOC threat, this is our rivalry game each year. Our last regular season loss 3 years ago was to Jackson. We know they are a good team. Hope Burg continues to be very impressive and coach Hall keeps things going good in Apple Festival land. Hope for a good game!

The Apple Bowl is back and more exciting this year than ever ! As a Burg grad and fan I ofcourse think they will win but by how much is the question ? I know Jackson is good but how good? Guess we will find out friday in the Apple Bowl and Burg looked very very good tonight against Watterson I watched from the Watterson side of the field and they looked very surprised even the coaches were impressed with Burg and the atmosphere at The Ed was exciting Burg has kept improving and will continue to get better hopefully this might be the year we could win it all but Jackson will be fired up and play Burg very tough But Burg wins this one IMO GO BURG!

Also Burg has the longest active regular season winning streak 29 games in Ohio and Jackson was our last loss in 2014
