Re: River @ Shadyside
Shadyside was off of the River schedule for many years. Monroe Central and Magnolia have become the top rival for most River fans. Shadyside was a big rival of old Powhatan high school, but now many of Shadysides players are from Powhatan. Can't claim rival when you send you children to school there. River fans will still go to the game , but River has already beaten Monroe and the Blue Eagles. Hope no one get hurt in the game.

Shadyside being off the schedule was the old AD’s doing no fans wanted that. If you ask most of the kids parents and fans if they could win only one game on the schedule they would say Shadyside. The people who send their kids to Shadyside are people previously from Shadyside usually. But regardless no one from Powhatan should be going to Shadyside.raineyday wrote: Tue Oct 01, 2019 4:37 pm Shadyside was off of the River schedule for many years. Your facts are not right. The old AD. a personal friend of mine, did not drop Shadyside. It was a decision of the Principal, Coach and the AD. AT the time Shadyside's coach was teaching at River and the Athletic Dept did not think it was a good idea to keep playing the Tigers when they had a large advantage. The gym teacher at River was the coach at Shadyside, he knew all the athletes and it was not the same as if he were a Math teacher. The AD took lots of flack and left the position , on his own, before he retired.

I promise you I know exactly what was going on. My facts are what the facts are. The old AD friend or not was and probably still is a weasel and was only in it for personal gain. Holenka being at the school had no effect on the two teams playing. It was the AD and superintendent.raineyday wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2019 4:26 pm Your facts are not right. With the 100 year celebration occurring during this matchup against River for Shadyside, it could either take away from the matchup versus River or make the Tigers play beyond themselves as a team and blowout River. I'll say Shadyside wins, but River will keep the game fun and create opportunites to try to get the win.
Re: River @ Shadyside
Shadyside High School is closer to Powhatan than River high School is.... And River high school is not even in the same county as Powhatan... So why would you not send your kids to Shadyside?OvGuy wrote: Tue Oct 01, 2019 10:32 pm [quote=raineyday post_id=1800351 time=156996

Re: River @ Shadyside
That’s the tradition plain and simple. People from Powhatan that went to either Powhatan or River would never want their kids going to Shadyside. It doesn’t matter what county it’s in. It’s still the Switzerland of Ohio school district so unless they redraw the district lines you should go wherever the district dictates.Tigerfan wrote: Thu Oct 03, 2019 12:22 pmShadyside High School is closer to Powhatan than River high School is.... Re: River @ Shadyside
With 1:10 on the clock in the second it still 0-0 . A blocked punt returned for a td made it 7-0 at half. A huge Shadyside kick return down into the Red Zone to start the 3rd resulted into a 14-0 lead. At that point River threw in the towel !
