Gallia Academy to the TVC-Ohio
My sources at CNN are telling me that the Blue Boys want out of the OVC and the hideous travel times along the river....
Would this be a good fit?

Re: GA to the TVC-O
Gallia Academy is the only former SEOAL rival of Nelsonville-York that NY has not played in football since NY left the SEOAL. The last football game played between the two schools was 1969 (NY's last season in the SEOAL was the '69-'70 school year). They have played each other in other sports since then, but not football.
This is one non-conference game I have wanted to see NY pick up for a two year series for a long time.

We'll vote for them. Hopefully getting them in will lead to three divisions. I know Southern is desperately wanting three divisions. So do I. So I hope this is true.

Re: GA to the TVC-O
It's almost assuredly not true. I'd have hoped the CNN quip gave that away. I'd like to see it happen, just because of travel times and school sizes, compared to the longer distances and smaller schools in the OVC.meatswinger wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 2:54 pm We'll vote for them. Re: GA to the TVC-O
I'm not sure what the issue is with the TVC expanding. I think if you can make size and travel work why not have 3 divisions of 6 or 8? Then you can play "cross-over" games that fit your talent and travel and now there is one more league champion and you can play as many "other" teams in the TVC as you want for Non-Conference. Realistically how many teams are there now? How many teams might be interested in joining to make it happen?
TVC - Small D6/D7 (Candidates to add: Fed Hock, Belpre, ??)
Southern
Eastern
Waterford
South Galia
Miller (leaving?)
Wahama (leaving?)
TVC - Medium D5/D6 (candidates to add: River Valley, Wellston, Alex, Oak Hill, Fort Frye. ??)
Nelsonville-York
Trimble
Fed Hock
Belpre
TVC - Big (D5 or higher) Candidates to Add Warren, Galia Academy, Jackson, Logan, Marietta, ??)
Athens
Alexander
Vinton County
Meigs
River Valley
Wellston
I would say if you could add 4 schools you would now have 18, if they would have made this move before you probably would not be losing Miller so 3 would be perfect. Depending on what schools you add would determine how you move teams down. Who am I missing? Below would be an example or best I can come up with without doing all of my research.
TVC Big:
Add Galia Academy
Add Warren Local
Add Marietta or other
Athens
Vinton County
Meigs
TVC Medium
Add Oak Hill
Alexander
Nelsonville York
Wellston
River Valley
Trimble
TVC Small
Belpre
Fed Hock
Southern
Eastern
Waterford
South Galia
If you could keep Miller you could bump a team up to the medium like Belpre or Fed Hock then bump NY or Alex or Wellston or Oak Hill to the big and not need that 3rd big school team.
Thoughts? What am I missing? Any other schools be interested?

Re: GA to the TVC-O
Another option might be to just go to 2 Divisions of 8 actually:
TVC Ohio:
Add Galia Academy
Add Warren Local or Oak Hill?
Athens
Vinton County
Meigs
Alexander
Nelsonville York
Wellston
TVC Hocking
River Valley
Trimble
Belpre

NY should not be with the schools you listed. ALL of our kids need to be able to compete for league titles, not just football.55buckeyes98 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:20 pm Another option might be to just go to 2 Divisions of 8 actually:

NY should be with the big schools in football only. Any other sport we should be in the smaller division.Pat wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:25 pmNY should not be with the schools you listed. Re: GA to the TVC-O
Not much of a difference in travel. In football this equals out to about 37 extra minutes of driving per season. GA has won multiple OVC championships in a variety of sports already but in no way are they dominant. OVC is perfect except for GA being in the middle of nowhere for any conference they are in.
Portsmouth 1:12. NY 1:10
South point 1:05. Athens 1:02
Coal grove 1:03. VC :56
Ironton 1:00. Alexander :55
Chesapeake :56. Wellston :43
Rock hill :53. Meigs :36
Fairland :43. RV :18
Trimble 1:24 if they ever switched RV

Re: GA to the TVC-O
There is no way half those OVC travel times are correct. Even by car, I'm hard pressed to reach Portsmouth in less than an hour and a half. P-ville is an hour from 4th ave in Gallipolis. Ironton is at least 1:15.
TVC times look fairly accurate other than VC

Rock Hill is probably closer to an hour and fifteen minutes as well, just because of how curvy 93 is, past OH

Yeah. Those all are terrible roads. I always thought GA should be in the TVC. Meigs/RV vs Gallia would be their big attendance gamesMisterGalliaGuy2016 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 10:26 pm Rock Hill is probably closer to an hour and fifteen minutes as well, just because of how curvy 93 is, past OH
