I dont believe these rankings ironton should not be behind ridgewood and i dont think kirtland is 36 only thing 36 about kirtlamd is their current winning streak lol

Both are Top 20% of all teams combined but not Top 20 overall individually.

Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
I dont think anyone on this site watches enough teams to say whos top 20 or not to be 100 percent honest

Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
But it is a ranking based on substance and not assumption. Kirtland and ironton win against d-1 teams this year are very quality wins but not that of an amazing feat. While the players may look the part, doesn’t necessarily mean they are a good football team. Heck. D4 lake catholic gave Kirtland a tougher game.MrFirstTake wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 12:08 pm I dont believe these rankings ironton should not be behind ridgewood and i dont think kirtland is 36 only thing 36 about kirtlamd is their current winning streak lol
But I do agree that they should be above ridgewood

Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
Does not matter either way only 14 teams get a chance to play for a state title i wonder how many are top 20 programs what matters more i wonder top 20 or state champion? I dont think Kirtland minds being 36 if they win state every year or even have a chance to compete for one

Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
It doesn’t matter but the topic is a knee jerk reaction to ironton win last night. Ironton is definitely one of the favorites to win the championship in D5 but there are a lot of really good teams in this division this year. Last year I thought it was pretty weak overall, especially in region 19 and 20. Kirtland and ironton were the only two teams that were really good. Same way in 2017 when burg won it. There were like 3 teams that were really good. 2018 was much tougher and I think 2020 is tougher than 2018MrFirstTake wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 1:31 pm Does not matter either way only 14 teams get a chance to play for a state title i wonder how many are top 20 programs what matters more i wonder top 20 or state champion? Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
To the outside area, the top SEO programs are Ironton, Wheelersburg, and Trimble. Those three are probably top 20 with small schools in Ohio
Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
Huge Huge difference between D5 and the D1’s, D’2, D’3 and even some D4’s of the world.
Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
Ironton and Kirtland both are if you split it between big school and small schools.

Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
I agree the fact that they are 3-0 against D1 schools while dominating 95-28 says it all

Look, comparing scores is the only thing we can do to sort of give credence to the question.Ironton and Kirtland both wore out their D1 opponents, the Tigers beat Sycamore worse than all but Lakota West in that Cincy area D1 league and their ranked in the top 10 in D1.I don’t think any team team in Ohio would blow these 2 teams out,but I could be wrong.

I agree both of the schools mentioned play defense to well in my opinion to get blowed off the field. Especially to be division 5artisgilmore wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 8:46 am Look, comparing scores is the only thing we can do to sort of give credence to the question.Ironton and Kirtland both wore out their D1 opponents, the Tigers beat Sycamore worse than all but Lakota West in that Cincy area D1 league and their ranked in the top 10 in D1.I don’t think any team team in Ohio would blow these 2 teams out,but I could be wrong.

Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
A couple of points:
1: the concept of Top 20 can be organized two ways, this year, and recent history.
2: this year top 20 teams change as a point in time after weekly results are factored in. So this could be assessed only after playoffs
3: a better measure is to look at the last 15-25 years win loss records
If you look at #3, Ironton's record over that time clearly puts the Fighting Tigers on that list

Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
Then burg needs to be ahead of ironton if that’s the case, although I think he’s talking about this year and he may be right in the end but right now, I don’t believe so.71tigeralum wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 8:44 pm A couple of points:

Burg has an overall better all time win percentage than ironton and the same amount of championship titles. Ironton does have more runner ups though

Re: Top 20 programs in Ohio
Why don't Ironton and Wheelersburg set up a game the last week they are allowed incase they both get knocked out?
