The State title games should ALWAYS be in The Shoe
Re: The State title games should ALWAYS be in The Shoe
Given the state title games on most occasions draw way fewer than 10,000 fans, Ohio Stadium has not provided a good atmosphere for high school championships in the past. Hallowed ground for sure, but 90,000 plus empty seats make the Shoe look and sound like a mausoleum.

Makes the most sense to have it in Columbus since it’s the center of the state but look even at West Virginia where they don’t even play their state title in Morgantown at WVU

I’m for having it in Columbus. I’ve always heard the argument that not every kid is an OSU fan, but I would have rather had the chance play in the shoe than in some high school stadium in Canton or Massillon. My idea which would probably never happen is try to have all NCAA D1 Ohio schools and Bengals and Browns stadiums rotate every year. A majority of the time it would still be north of Columbus, but it gives players a chance to play in big stadiums all over the state. But I’d still rather the shoe host every year over that plan
I know what's wrong with it. It's a Ford. You know what they say Ford stands for, don't ya? It stands for 'Fix it again, Tony'.

Agree, too large. I attended the finals held there back in the 80's and it was like a morgue.Omega wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 5:00 pm

Lecta? That is on the other side of the middle of no where just past BFE. I spent a month there just passing through one afternoon.

God's country indeed. Used to live near Getaway and used to travel the back roads to Rio Grande. Lecta had to be most remote location away from any incorporated village or city in Ohio.

The title games need to be in Canton/Massilon. The atmosphere is always great for high school games (even the division 6 and 7 bring enough fans typically to make the atmosphere fun). There is plenty of parking and the venues are excellent and the stadiums are close the the interstate. Professionals are struggling playing in empty stadiums...
I mean if I was playing in a state title game I would want to be able to feed off the crowd, be able to hear the crowd cheering, etc. Playing in silence would be awful. Looking up and seeing nothing but empty seats?

Would be cool to see them host the regional championships or even state championship games at some of the colleges within the state. For instance at UC OU Kent Toledo and so on

Have you heard the argument that OSU does not want the games? You can want the games in the Shoe all you want, but if Columbus does not want them, then it’s simply not going to happen.Rusty Shackleford wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2020 5:41 pm I’m for having it in Columbus. Why not Ohio U, Miami, Akron, Youngstown State, Bowling Green, Toledo, Kent State?
Each of them host one per year?

Should only ever be at Paul brown in Massillon
Re: The State title games should ALWAYS be in The Shoe
High School Football is King in NE Ohio. Ohio State probably charges too much. They are all about money.

Have they said where they are holding it this year yet. Nothing on the website that I can find
