#1 Newark Catholic (10-1) vs #2 River (12-1)

Post by OvGuy »

Obviously NC is the favorite in this one but to dismiss the Pilots would be a mistake. They are one of the larger and faster D7 teams you’ll see especially from the area. Should be a good one. Them kids got that dog in em!

Pilots 35
NC 34

Without looking it up, who gave Newark Catholic their one loss?

The Green Wave also has a win over Fort Loramie 27-9. I am hoping River takes this.

Thank you. I know how good Newark Catholic has been over the years. I can't remember his exact name, it may have been J. D. Graham. I know that he was a very successful Coach for quite a few years at Newark Catholic. I knew some of his relatives that lived in Jackson Ohio. That is very impressive a Div-7 even playing a Div-2.

I have watched both this season with that being said I will say if this isn’t a 3 or 4 touchdown difference I”d be shocked.

River has had an outstanding season. They have improved substantially as the season has progressed. I would love to see them win this matchup but I don’t see it happening. NC - 35 Pilots - 21.

Marion Local beat Wapakoneta in the first week of the season. It was Wapak's only loss until the playoffs. Wapak is D3.

Ohio has some excellent small-school football. I'd put Kirtland or Marion Local up against anybody of comparable size in the country.

Still liking the Pilots chances as the week goes on. NC has a solid team but their size isn’t what I thought it would be. It’s still impressive but the Pilots match up well.

If Newark Catholic wins, it’ll be their 20th or 21st Regional Championship.

If River Wins, it’ll be their 1st Regional Championship and only the 2nd one in County History (Monroe Central in 2001).

2 turnovers and a turnover on downs including a fumble on the third play of the game really put the Pilots behind the 8 ball. Great drive to end the half hopefully they build on it!

27-12 final
My guess was 34-13
Congrats to River on a fine season.
I enjoyed my first ever visit to their stadium this season.
Good luck to NC next week.

unfortunately the River region D7 and surrounding area still remains weak, teams need to take a lead from Lucas up north and play stronger teams during the regualr season. Thats why Fort Frye finally got over the hump this year, unfortunately they got passed down Kirtland and Maria Stein from D7 , your welcome, Go Green Wave, what happened the Trimble world beathers??
