I’m not sure who returns what players. But if I were to take an early guess;

Fairland
Gallia Academy
Portsmouth
Coal Grove
South Point
Rock Hill
Chesapeake

Not sure if Portsmouth will win it, but I look for them to be very good. Only lost 3 seniors who got real playing time. They will return 4 offensive linemen, and all their skill positions including Heiland who just had a monster year. Not sure which Williams boy will get the nod at QB, my guess is Cam. I look for him to get bigger, stronger and work a lot on throwing the ball this off-season. If they get after it in the weight room this winter, then use the summer to get conditioned I think you’ll definitely see a team that wins maybe 8 games.

Portsmouth could absolutely make a run for the conference title, only graduating 3 with Heiland returning and both Williams boys, the Trojans just need to develop more offensive weapons to open the playbook and continue to improve on the defense.

I didn’t know Portsmouth had everyone back. They may dominate the conference

They definitely can, they just need to find ways to open up the playbook more. If they can do that, Portsmouth could have a great year in 2024!

They'd better lose a couple on purpose or they'll get voted out

Portsmouth brings back a lot but can they beat Gallia Academy? 3-18 Record vs GA in the last 30 years.

Gallia Academy lost a lot of good seniors so did South Point. Pointers lose 15 solid seniors. Gallia will lose the powerhouse receiver Kenyon Franklin, powerful Cole Hines, phenomenal Shamblin brothers; Hudson and Hunter. Great Caleb Stout. Fairland will be losing 2023 OVC Football Player of the Year. 2023 OVC Quarterback of the Year. 2023 OVC Fall Sports Player of the Season. Excellent passer awesome passing quarterback and tremendous quarterback and football player all over the place Peyton Jackson and his right hand copilot Brycen Hunt who was a lighting faster than fast tornado receiver running many different routes. However, the Dragons return stud superstars Kam Kitts, Jack Hayden, and Keegan Smith along with a talented upcoming freshman class of 2028 that helped their own middle school football team win the outright OVC title in a dominant fashion.

If fairland can find a quarterback they will challenge for the title. They still have the athletes. Poor showing in the playoffs this year should motivate them and the coaches. They both got beat that night. Fairland has good athletes and coaches too. I’m sure coach Jackson will have them ready.

Assuming GA gets the coaching situation figured out sooner rather than later, week 5 should decide the league crown, or at least give a good indication as to who the best in conference is.

Hate to see it but seen it once before at GAHS, Can't keep some happy, and then nothing goes right, Could be a long season for Gallia.

Small town politics. The right last name can get you just about anything. You could even have "relations" with students and still front like you're a God-fearing good ole Christian man, husband, and father. Good ole Gallia County, eh?
