2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
We can count on losses to ironton, Jackson and prep because that’s who we are now. Good but just not good enough to compete with the better teams on the schedule. Season will end with loss to prep or ironton, which ever we face first

Vass before transfers 229-75 burg 5-1, Pendleton and transfers 211-84 6-2 ironton
Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
It really doesn’t matter if they lose no one or everyone. Season will go the exact same way

Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
Some think the team will be better next year. I don’t see them beating IHS or Prep. With Jackson and McNich being toss up games.
Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
If they bring a lot of their line back, they should be OK. QB got a lot of experience, they’ll always have solid skill guys. Probably no game breakers but enough athletes to get by, especially on D.

Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
6-4 or 7-3. Like others have said, should win a game or two in watered-down playoffs, but doesn’t look like a team that will be able to beat Ironton or HP.
Offensive line will be a big question mark with losses to graduation and health issues to end year for their underclassmen. Defensive line and linebackers also have lot of guys to replace. Secondary should be solid.*

Left out Maxie, Willoughby, Connor Estep, and Watkins
All of the seniors played a lot this season.
Next year I think the offense will be more experienced and even more balanced.
Defense will have to fill the most gaps.

Didn’t mean anything by leaving them out. Just got lazy. Thanks for mentioning them because all of the seniors did a great job contributing.wobycat wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 7:11 pmLeft out Maxie, Willoughby, Connor Estep, and Watkins

I was surprised to hear from a friend today who actually thinks Burg will be better next year. I just don’t see it, especially on the D side.
Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
Offensively they will be more efficient. Defensively they will just have to plug holes. They have players waiting but they will have to be ready early. Hopefully they can fill holes.RBH23 wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 7:53 pmDidn’t mean anything by leaving them out. Just got lazy. This senior class was a solid class top to bottom. Most of them were lineman coming up. Not many skilled kids. Burg returns a bunch of skilled.

That said, if Burg is a softball school, what is Ironton? Maybe golf or bowling?

Re: 2024 Wheelersburg Pirates
Golf does have more state titles at Ironton I believe!! Isn't it like 3 for golf and 2 for football, last one being all the way back in 1989 when I think Kirtland didn't even field a team.RBH23 wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 11:31 amTrue, softball is dominate at Burg.

Kudos to IHS for being a golf school. Impressive that a SEO team is known for that!yabbadabbadoo wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 12:08 pmGolf does have more state titles at Ironton I believe!!
