Ironton has much better on-field talent. wheelersburg has much better coaching & is at home. Result is a slim Ironton win... *Wouldn't be shocked with a burg upset

And burg fans still swear they have "superior coaching." Then that must mean the talent isnt very good cause burg cannot get it done vs Ironton or Jackson or Prep. Same song this season.

"Much better coaching" has done really well vs Ironton, Jackson and Prep. Does that mean burgs talent just is not very talented?

That means Burg coaches HAVE won a state title. As an Ironton fan, are you familiar with what that is?

So if no running clock, does that mean another year of Ironton doing less with more?

And 1989 is never coming back to Ironton. Glory days are long gone. Ironton has shriveled from a D3 power to a D5 team that specializes in getting running clocked in state title games.

Curious as to what makes you think they will? They have been terrible against decent teams since Holden graduated. They disappear in big games

Let me rephrase this: given the talent they are bringing back, including the starting QB, the offense should be better.

My concern: the coaches won’t prioritize the run and will throw way too often.

All that said, if they focus on running the ball/play action, they will be better on O. If they prioritize passing, they will be about the same as last year.

Should be a good one. Ironton with all the talent they have is definitely the favorite. The last few years after watching scrimmages of both teams and reading “hype” on here… I assumed/predicted an Ironton blow out or running clock only to be proved wrong. Last 2 years have been a low scoring dogfight with both defenses settling in and playing good.
Still early and really a hard tough rivalry game to predict🤷‍♂️ I’m hoping for another good injury free game.

they have to run the QB, a running qb can be a difference maker in big games

100% agree!

Given the offense, the QB has to be a decent passer and a good runner. Requires a lot from the QB which is one reason I am not a fan of this offense; good dual threat QBs don’t grow on trees.

That said, Rucker has the potential as long as the coaches let him run!
