State of Chillicothe Football

Post by Ohio1234 »

After a 1-9 season a year ago in which Chillicothe went 0-6 in league play and an abysmal 0-3 start to the season in which they have been out scored 118-20. Where do the Cavs go from here.

I believe Bart is far past his prime and does not have the ability to connect with the kids at Chillicothe. Not saying he’s a bad coach, just that he was never a good fit for Chillicothe. Chillicothe needs a young enthusiastic coach that is going to bring energy and excitement to the program. Get kids to come out and play and not keep losing good athletes to schools in Columbus or the county.

It’s an ugly brand of football at Chillicothe right now that’s for sure.

Everyone is banking on the fact that Chillicothe is a very young team and they've got the talent coming up but given the size of Chillicothe they shouldn't have these types of down years especially not back to back.

Be nice if we could get some of those guys that leave lol. You guys aren’t gonna find a better coach than Bart. He runs a wide open spread offense if kids don’t want to play for that idk what’s the problem. Chillicothe just needs to stay the course, put together some classes with numbers and they will be back at the top of fac

They weren’t going to be competitive with Bloom or London with any coaches with the current talent pool that they have. Maybe in a couple of years, but not currently.

Before last season, they had some kids leave that they had been building around and that was a pretty big killer as far as wins and losses go.

If the alledged talent in the younger grades is as good as people say it is, Coach Bart will have them in great shape in a couple of years. A coaching change would only hamper that, imo. As long as there’s nothing weird going on, you stick with the veteran coach who has had a ton of success.

Who would they play outside the likes of Bloom and London? They are big fish in little pond in SEO. Plus the schools around their size and skill level they play in conference. I know it’s nice to schedule up and play tough teams but when you’ve been struggling to crack .500 at some point I think you say enough is enough let’s end the contract with these schools and look else well. But that also puts you into the same situation I bring up earlier who would you play?

I wonder if someone from another SEO Program would be interested. I always felt like Chillicothe could be a gold mine of talent if it was managed right. I know they have nice facilities and a rich football tradition. Some coaches that come to mind that could be potential candidates are Corey Dye from Paint Valley, Hoops from Unioto or an outside candidate like Chuck Williamson who is currently at Marion Harding (former WCH). However age is obviously an issue. Always felt like with the right coach someone could turn Chilli into a powerhouse.

I think Unioto and Chilli should play every year week 1. The whole town would be there. But from the sounds of it, U hasn't ever wanted any part of it. I agree we need to schedule different non-conference opponents though. Why a struggling program put a Westerville school and Harvest Prep on the schedule (last year) is beyond me. Was hoping they would get out of Bloom Carroll and London without injuries, just to lose 3 senior starters. Probably another long year awaiting. Hoping for some wins in the next few weeks.

It’s more likely now with the new AD, but I’d still put it at like 5-10% for them to ever play in football.

They don’t even play in basketball anymore and that series was way closer to even than football would ever be. I do know that a former principal at Chillicothe tried to access Unioto of recruiting after a year when Unioto won in basketball, which probably killed that relationship, even though that admin is long gone.

Chillicothe, like Washington, is playing a BRUTAL non conference schedule. Most teams would be on the losing ends of the schedules. The problem in Chillicothe, and which I think will remain the problem in the future, is your youth program is cutting some of the Chillicothe kids to play Unioto kids who play in the program. They care so much about winning biddy football that they are killing the program at the higher levels.

There’s all kinds of teams they could play, I mean really you’re talking about week 1 and 2 opponents. Chillicothe’s location is very good in terms of playing teams up into Columbus but there’s a huge list of teams they could play let’s not act like they’re some powerhouse everyone avoids.

Went the Chillicothe vs Pourtsmouth West game last night! No way should that Portsmouth team be able to hang with the Cavs. The team looked unprepared, the coaches were out-coached in the second half. Whoever is calling the plays should step down immediately! Obvious mismatches in the second half were not taken advantage of, obviously very little film study was done! The entire coaching staff should be embarrassed and apologize to these boys who had worked there ass off all season!!! Hey coaches, PUT IN THE HOURS AND DO YOUR darn JOB!!!
