Northwest at Valley

Post by packers80 »

Let's hear your thoughts. Bordering districts, usually a competitive contest too.

I have watched almost every Valley game and have seen NW one time. This will be a very good game, IMO. NW is physical and Runyon can really play. Valley has a more diverse attack in the run game but both teams are run first, even though some posters believe the opposite. Valley has been killed by penalties but they play hard. Northwest is will try to be use their size to wear on Valley. Turnovers and penalties will probably decide this game.

If McNeil was playing I'd say Valley but since it sounds like he's out for awhile, let's go with NW

I agree with McNeil out valley will have a problem with NW. I do think that valley pulls out a win in a very close game

Northwest hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record. The wins they do have are against a bad McClain team in overtime and a downright horrible team at Minford. Valley is 0-5 against a very hard first 5 games. They were in the Portsmouth game and Waverly game. The common opponents are Piketon and Wheelersburg. Valley played Piketon closer but Northwest held Wheelersburg to fewer points. Northwest did not score against Burg or Piketon. I don’t think Piketon is a good team because their wins are against bad teams. Northwest is also poorly coached. I’m going to take Valley for the first win of the season.

I'm going with Valley. It's hard right now seeing us sitting at 0-5, but when they come to play, they can hang with most everybody. There's no reason that with effort and the ball bouncing in favor of the Indians that they can't finish the season 5-5. Even with out McNeil. I know that we got throttled by Burg, but had we had a few less penalties and a few questionable calls go out way, we could be sitting at 3-2. (We were never really in the Piketon game. We just didn't look like we wanted to be there.). This team just needs a W to get over the hump. Here's to hoping we pull one out Friday!

I do not know, but does muletown have a capable kicker? Seems like they usually have a soccer kid that is at least adequate.

Not muletown, Valley. Was thinking about the NW vs muletown game last week. Whats Valley's kick personnel look like?

After seeing NW in person and Valley online, I like NW by the slimmest of margins. Nothing in this game would surprise me, but if I was going to put money down it would be on NW.

Valley's kicker is the best in the area. Broke school record this year with a 44 yard field goal. He is a junior and gets better every time he's out there. This kid has a future and will get a full ride somewhere to kick.

I should have said by 3, not necessarily by a kicked fg. I wouldnt be shocked if NW wins the game, by 3.

Valley has probably the best kicker around. He set a school record a few weeks ago with a 44 yarder. He also kicks touchbacks quite a bit.

Thanks. It may very well come down to a kicker. Good luck to all.

Can't really say that I would prefer one school over the other to win this game. I can imagine how tough it has to be for Valley trying to get that first win of the season. I do look for a very close game, and I would probably not be disappointed if the Indians were able to secure that first W. Let's hope for an injury free game for both teams.

Indians 16-13. Especially since I've heard Vice is out. Can someone verify that?

Oh man. If you asked me about 3 weeks ago what I'd think about this game, I would have said Valley by a lot. but the fact is, despite all we've heard about improvement, they sit at 0-5. I do believe that Valley has drastically improved. At this point last year they were also 0-5 but they had a running clock put on them just about every game. Valley really needs this one. If they want a shot at doing anything postseason, you cannot drop a game like this. The loss of McNeil has hurt. I think it's clear that not having McNeil offensively hurts, but 22 is pretty darn good as a runner too, and they can make things work. Defensively, they are hurting. 33 was the heart of the defense, and they very much need somebody to step up big into his shoes. Valley truly looked good in the close ones against Waverly, Portsmouth, and Coal Grove. They crapped the bed against Piketon-(likely a fluke game)-but just got pounded by Wheelersburg. I don't know what to think of this team. Sometimes they look like they can compete, and they show flashes of great potential. But against Wheelersburg, I saw flashes of that team from last year. I see many pros and cons for both the Indians and the Mohawks. This game will come down to toughness, will, and discipline. Valley 24. Northwest 20.
