Burg missing playoffs?

Post by TigerFella »

This is purely hypothetical, but at the moment I am posting this Burg is #19 on Joeeitel. If they don’t win out and lose to Waverly, do you think they miss the playoffs on points? After Waverly they would only have currently 1-6 D5 Minford and 5-2 d6 Portsmouth West. They can still likely sneak in at 5-5.

I don’t think they miss the playoffs but the possibility is there. Any thoughts?

No. Will be 12-13. I doubt they lose another regular season. When I say burg is much better, I don’t say it as a rose colored glasses fan. They are a much improved team especially on the offensive side of ball. Defensively have gotten better at the linebacker spot. D line will get better once Willis returns. They are a solid team now.

Burg has a lot of leeway by being Burg

I’m saying they end up #10

Wheelersburg wont lose another regular season game unless it’s week 10, and I really don’t look for that happen.

They won't come close to missing the playoffs.

Probably need to lose two to miss the playoffs. Not happening.

Last couple of years have seen Ironton on one side of the bracket with Prep and Wheelersburg on the other. Last year it was Wheelersburg alone. Thinking this year it will be Ironton 1, Prep 4/5, Wheelersburg 12/13. So all three will be on one side.

Lord no. 16 teams a region. They are in. I bet the 10-13 range. They should win out.

They are winning out. They'll be in the playoffs. Wishful thinking they'll miss the playoffs.

agree, burgs going to have to prove they can beat someone. going to have to beat ironton or prep. beating up on the SOC just isnt good enough. burgs 3 wins are against a 4-3 NW juggernaut, a 1-6 valley and a 1-6 Oak Hill

You’re correct. But they are putting them away early. A sign of a strong team. I know what I’m sayin. I know what I’m about.

Come on, those teams are not good football teams. I will give you the best game they played all yr was the loss to prep but still another loss to them, and again the offense was pathetic against a good football team.

If I was a betting man I would bet on burg making the playoffs every year unless ohsaa starts limiting teams at 16 teams in topics like this are just digs at burg by haters

I don’t see the pirates missing the playoffs. How many years has it been since they’ve finished below .500 for the year? Probably before I was born.

2000. My Mighty Minford Falcons beat them 28-14 regular season then again 28-0 in the playoffs for them to finish at 5-6.

Do they miss playoffs this year? Doubtful, unless Waverly jumps up and beats them. If that were to happen I don’t think wins over DVI West and Minford get them in. I think that’s one thing some may not be taking into consideration. Wins over Valley and West who are now DVI aren’t worth what they used to be points wise. Not sure what the difference is but I think it is less.

Burg should be 13-15 if they win out. One loss and they are likely out

One season in the 2000’s. Burg went 5-5 and made the playoffs. Lost the first game and finished 5-6.

Losing season before then? 1964!

I think Burg will win out and squeak in the playoffs, If Waverky or West could pull the upset that would leave Burg out. Burg needs those 2nd level points. The big diference is Burg went 0-4 in non-conferencem usually Wheelersbirg can steal one of those games and rake in big leve 2 points.
The schedule sets up good for Wheelersburg the four teams just ahead of them have almost "certain losses" in the last 3 weeks of the season Wheelersbutg does not.

Projections are showing they have a 94% chance of making the playoffs and currently projected to finish #13 in the region. If that occurs then they will probably travel back to Canal Winchester to play Harvest Prep again.
