Ironton 2025 Schedule, Wish List & Done Deals?

Post by kantucky »

Does anybody know for sure what teams Ironton is playing next year? I know it’s a partial list anyone could come up with. Is Pikeville on the schedule?

Who would you like to see? As for me, I want to see Ashland on our schedule. I also wouldn’t mind to see Belfry back there. A long drive but they were a classy bunch. Certainly nothing like the rednecks we encountered down at Pikeville

Who do you want?

According to online sources, they are looking for 4 games. I know Wheelersburg, Jackson, Fairland, Gallia, and Portsmouth are on there. Not sure of the 6th game.

With Weeks 1 and 2 open, that should make it easier to fill. I believe Week 7 is also open but that could be tougher.

I’d been told Raceland was there too?

I heard that but I also heard that last year, so who knows.

It will be a bit before we know with 4 weeks to potentially fill.

I heard the same thing about Raceland. I was also told Pikeville opted out of their contract with Ironton.

My opinion, Ironton has nothing to lose if scheduling Marion Local:

1) Win and say you beat the best small school program in the state (who probably would’ve won state in D 4, 5, and 6)
2) Lose by a little (<14 points) and say you were able to compete with the best in the state. Also able to make adjustments on what to focus on in season
3) Get blitzed and see where the weaknesses are. Focus on those if you want to win back-to-back.

Either way, it spells positive for Ironton

Ironton will have no problem scheduling games getting local teams will be tougher obviously but not impossible.
Like to see them play Belfry again maybe hurricane WV.
Get Athens on the schedule and Columbus Desales and final team will be in the Classic like to see them bring in one the teams from Indiana that a lot of bigger Cindy teams like to play.
Along with Gallia Portsmouth,Fairland,Jackson and Burg. I think that would be a strong schedule and not to overwhelming.

Marion Local will not be playing. They have nothing to gain by playing. They aren’t interested in a long bus ride in year two and with a long unbeaten streak on the line they have everything to lose.
As a D5 school with no league affiliation Ironton will find it harder and harder to schedule games. Ironton does have the advantage of a good fan base that is willing to travel. that may be attractive to some school districts if Irontin will come to them.
In the short run Ironton will have to do deals like Wheelersburg dud this year. Ironton has to go back to the Burg for a portion of the gate. I don’t see Burg renewing after 2024. However, if Ironton is willing to share the gate again, maybe so. The probable loss that area teams will take, must outweigh the $7500-$8500 gate that Ironton fans would bring. Nice to see so many athletic departments are in such good shape to be able to turn that down every other year. That is just what Ironton fans would bring to the “turnstiles”
The pikeville deal was only one year and they were not willing to play a home and home. the Tiger bus will be getting alot of miles out on it the next few years if Ironton stays independent.. unless they are willing to
pay schools to come to
ironton ie.like Massillon does

I think Ironton will be fine they obviously will have to schedule up but I agree I doubt if we continue playing Burg after next year.
Pendleton in my opinion knew before Ironton brokered the deal for the Football to leave the OVC what was on the horizon.
Ironton will be fine moving forward they have a great fan base that is energized and willing to travel and they have the funds to pay teams to come to Ironton.
Simple fact is the OVC teams Sid not prepare Ironton for post season success.
Sadly Gallia wasn’t up to par this year Portsmouth and Fairland had winning records but didn’t do anything in the playoffs and Wheelersburg had a great run but was man handled by Ironton in the playoffs.
Yes the scheduling will be harder moving forward and there will be traveling but the Ironton faithful know this and accept this and the future looks bright for Ironton.
Hard work was rewarded this year and it showed with a State Championship

I believe they still have Cabell-Midland for the 2025 season since it was a 3 year deal. They should call up Stuebenville since they’re independent

The 4-time D4 state Champs from Clarksville, Ohio. The Clinton-Massie Falcons. They're located just outside of Hillsboro, Ohio, and this side of Willington, Ohio. About 1:45 away from Ironton.

Coldwater, LaSalle, Perry or Kirtland would be good pickups. Closer to home maybe Clinton-Massie or Fort Frye but i am not sure Fort Frye would play Ironton or Wheelersburg.

Burg reached out to Fort Frye 2 years ago but they declined….. Burg ended up with Harvest Prep for 2 year deal
