FAC Looking to Expand..
FAC Looking to Expand..
Looks like the FAC put out a statement saying they are looking to expand.
Theres the usual suspects always linked to FAC expansion... Unioto, Waverly, Circleville and Logan Elm.
Who are other candidates for potential expansion? Here are some I can think of...
Western Brown
Wilmington
Clinton-Massie
Amanda-Clearcreek*
Fairfield Union*
Hamilton Twp.*
Bloom-Carroll*
(MSL/FAC merge)
I don't see the SBAAC schools coming, so we can toss them out.
BUT
Here is an FAC I would not mind seeing:
FAC American:
Bloom-Carroll
Chillicothe
Hamilton Township
Jackson
Miami Trace
Washington CH
FAC National:
Amanda-Clearcreek
Circleville
Fairfield-Union
Logan Elm
Unioto
Waverly
Hillsboro the SBAAC, McClain to the SVC (both teams would benefit greatly from this move).
I actually think competitively this works out really well. Crossovers would work just fine in this setup. The Jackson trips to HT and BC might be a bit long though...
Thoughts?

Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
While I think there will be two MSL members in a future FAC (CV and LE), the two leagues are not going to merge into one.
I don’t see HT as viable in this league. Trips to Chillicothe and Jackson (vice versa to HT) will be going through the length of Pickaway County on stoplight-laden 23 up to Rickenbacker.

Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
I agree that trips for HT and BC to Chillicothe and Jackson would be brutal. But realistically if the MSL does eventually die off I don’t see those two having many options, unless they want to be small fishes in a big pond (OCC)formerfcfan wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 5:26 pm While I think there will be two MSL members in a future FAC (CV and LE), the two leagues are not going to merge into one.

I don’t think Circleville and Logan Elm go to the FAC as is unless they are forced too. They would be greatly increasing travel, and I don’t think they would be too thrilled to play Jackson, Miami Trace and Chillicothe in most sports. Also if you add CV and LE to the FAC, you better look for a 3rd team to come along, because I can guarantee you that there is no chance Hillsboro stays around. They would be making 4+ trips at 50+ minutes (3 being an hour)
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
The Mid State Buckeye future relies on Hamilton Twp and Bloom Carroll- both are growing in size- both could be OCC bound in the next 5 years to join with Logan, Teays Valley, Lancaster, Canal Winchester in its own Division in the OCC. IF this happens then Liberty Union goes to the Licking County League- thus CIrcleville, Logan Elm and Fairfield Union maybe looking to the FAC.
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
They need to expand the SVC. Circleville, Logan Elm and Fairfield Union need to join to make two divisions. Then go get a SOC team to make it even.

As much as I love the idea of the SVC splitting into two adding those 3 and Waverly, I just don’t know if the league will do it. But I absolutely love the ideanoreply66 wrote: Sun Mar 02, 2025 9:24 pm They need to expand the SVC. Circleville, Logan Elm and Fairfield Union need to join to make two divisions. That OCC division could work.bsee12345 wrote: Sun Mar 02, 2025 5:37 pm The Mid State Buckeye future relies on Hamilton Twp and Bloom Carroll- both are growing in size- both could be OCC bound in the next 5 years to join with Logan, Teays Valley, Lancaster, Canal Winchester in its own Division in the OCC. Those three in the FAC works IMO as long as Hillsboro and maybe McClain isn’t around.
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
I am going to jump in here on a lot of people's favorite topic "fantasy leagues". I have talked to and am friends with a few AD's in the SEO area. NONE of them want leagues with divisions. This eventually leads to scheduling problems, travel issues for non-revenue sports, and problems with lower level scheduling. Some I talked to would like to add a team or two to their respective league to minimize the previously mentioned issues. One FAC athletic director said he would love to add two as long as travel was considered, but would not under any circumstances vote for divisions.

I can understand this. 8 would be easiest.Da Bears wrote: Mon Mar 03, 2025 7:56 am I am going to jump in here on a lot of people's favorite topic "fantasy leagues". Just wandering, I can’t seem to get in touch with anyone from the Hillsboro athletic department, but I’ve heard numerous rumblings that they want out of the FAC. Do you know if they are actively looking at new potential league options?

Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
If Waverly would be looking for a change, the SVC would make sense in competitiveness, culture, and travel. Bigger, as in the FAC, is not always better for a school whose athletics are not exactly on a ascending path.
They say nothing is impossible, yet I accomplish nothing every day.
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
Without any schools leaving the FAC, Waverly and Unioto are the two best options for expansion. They would bring solid programs and would be in the current footprint of the FAC. Outside of that, I’m not sure who the FAC could potentially bring in. I’d give Waverly a 5% chance of joining and Unioto a 1% chance. Waverly is in a conference that they compete in all sports and travel isn’t much of an issue. Unioto has been in the SVC where they have competed well in all sports and football as of the last 15 years. I don’t see either interested in making a move. The FAC will be what it is for the foreseeable future. If they stick together, this conference could survive for a long time. If one or two teams jump, it’ll be a short lived group. I believe this is why they are trying to attract more members. They see the writing on the wall.Zahns Corner wrote: Mon Mar 03, 2025 8:51 pm If Waverly would be looking for a change, the SVC would make sense in competitiveness, culture, and travel. With that said, if Hillsboro and Greenfield leave, Logan elm and circleville could fill that gap. That’s a lot of moving pieces at the same time though.

Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
The FAC must expand to stay relevant. We are not too far away from Miami Trace becoming D1 in all sports due to the new Honda plant coming and all of the housing developments being built outside of Jeffersonville. Miami Trace will either leave on their own or the other member schools will vote them out of the league. If the FAC cant expand, and the league falls apart, I think that McClain, Hillsboro, and Chillicothe will be able to find homes in other leagues pretty easily. I think that it will be Jackson and Washington Court House that are on the outside with no one taking them into their conferences. It will be a bad day for both schools.
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
With Honda opening I think Jamestown Greeneview will see some growth and eventually outgrow the OHC, they could be a Miami Trace replacement as they aren’t a bad fit geographically.go court house wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 6:15 am The FAC must expand to stay relevant. But if the FAC can’t expand they are doomed. One of Hillsboro or Miami Trace will be leaving this league very soon imo. I think this league can survive at 6 members, but everyone has to be bought in.

Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
Do you think this will happen to Miami Trace even though it doesn't seem to be dominating sports? What league do you think would bring Chillicothe in? Most areas look at Chillicothe as a team that would be at the top in all sports so would they really want them? Seems like the Honda plant would help Washington too.go court house wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 6:15 am The FAC must expand to stay relevant. I’m sure you’re talking about me saying Greeneview makes sense geographically.FightingFisherman61 wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 2:16 pm GEOGRAPHICALLY???? Some people don't own an atlas.
1st. I do own an Atlas, thank you very much.
2nd. Look at the FAC as currently is. Travel is already questionable in the league. Jamestown Greeneview would be 50 minutes or under to Washington CH, Miami Trace, Hillsboro, McClain and Chillicothe. The only school that’s really out of their way is Jackson but it’s actually a shorter drive from Greeneview to Jackson then Hillsboro to Jackson (Vice-Versa). And we can all be honest here, Jackson is okay with the travel, they literally have no other option but to travel unless they want to be homeless, I mean they were going to join the SCOL and make 90+ minute trips to Clinton county.. Greeneview overall fits the FAC travel wise just fine. They just need to get to D4 first, and then they are a serious option for FAC expansion.

It just depends on if Miami Trace thinks they are ready to step up and play an OCC schedule or not. But I think there is a good question on if the OCC would even take them. I think the OCC definitely would consider Miami Trace once they become a large D2 (they will be a small D2 in the next 2 years)
As for Chillicothe, no way is any other SE Ohio league taking them unless the SEOAL reforms. They will never leave the FAC as they like being a big fish in a small pond, but realistically their only other viable option would be the OCC as well, which I’m sure Chillicothe has no interest in.
Washington CH can definitely see benefits from Honda, and they could become a consistent D3 school. But I don’t see them becoming a D1 like Miami Trace.
I think the FAC biggest mistake was abandoning the SCOL. The SCOL should’ve just added Jackson and tried to have got more schools on board and split into two. I know the SCOL had its issues, but man was it a fun conference from 2014-2016!
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
Didn't Chillicothe belong to the OCC at one time or some other Columbus league? Would the OCC really want to travel to Chillicothe or Miami Trace? They complained enough about going to Logan when all they had to do was get on R33. I think there are not many schools wanting to get in a league with Jackson even if they could compete in the other sports. Football is THE sport, and no one want to play for #2 every year. I can see Hillsboro and McClain going elsewhere and then it would be just a matter of time before the FAC broke up. Southeastern Ohio is becoming a division 3 and less district unless a ton of school consolidate.
