Now that the pretenders are gone, only the contenders are left for the quest for Lord Stanley's Cup.
#4 Pens host the #5 Lighting starting Wednesday night in a white out at the Consol Center.
These 2 teams split their 4 games this year with each team winning on their home ice and losing on the road.
Tampa scored the win in game 1 back in October 5-3 but the Pens have out scored them 13-4 in the last 3 games. Tampa won the last game on 3-31 by a 2-1 score.
Lighting are a quick strike squad and can find the net via Martin St Louis and Steven Stamkos.
With Malkin out for the season and no word on when or if Crosby will return, the Pens will do it without 2 of their 3 superstars. Good for us we still have Fleury and an able body backup in Johnson to tend the nets.
As always, a hot goalie can carry a team to the Cup. Lets hope Fleury can ramp his game up another notch so we can dance with Lord Stanley.

Pens 3 Lighting 0 Game 1
"The kitchen is closed!" as Fleury turns in his 5th and best career playoff shutout in stopping all 32 shots on goal.
Kovalev and Asham get back to back goals 18 seconds apart early in the 3rd to break up a goalie duel as the Pens finally find the back of the net to take a 1-0 advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Game 2 on Friday night. "Get in the fast lane grandma, the bingo game is ready to roll"

Bolts 5 Pens 1 Game 2
Pens out shoot the Bolts but can only get 1 goal. Pens need to start finishing on the offensive end.

Pens were 0-15 on the PP before this game. Finally get a PP goal and go 1-3 on the PP.
Kennedy gets a goal. It's his 7th goal in a postseason game for the Pens and the Pens are undefeated when he scores.
Asham gets his 3rd goal of the postseason for the Pens after netting only 5 goals during the regular season.
Fleury was huge in the net.
Series back to the Burgh. Puck drops at high noon on saturday and the Pens can close it out with the win.
