Reds 11 Bucs 8

Ran ourselves right out of a big inning and a win. Hanrahan had an off night.

Need to get a win in game 2 of the series.

Bucs send out Morton (9-6, 3.43) who is 3-0 this year vs the Reds to face Willis (0-3, 4.08).

LETS GO BUCS!!!

ARRGH! There will be no order to abandon the ship before the end of the season this year or you'll be taking a long walk off a short plank mate. ;-)

This is the time of year when all Burgh fans do their best juggling of footballs, baseballs and pucks. And all the bars and resturants on the North Shore will be jammed to the gills with the black and gold of all 3 team's jerseys.

Bucs 5 Reds 3

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

Morton didn't get the win but the Bucs did as ol' Ground Chuck gives 6 effective innings and turns it over to the bullpen so Tony Watson gets his first major league win. He was called up from Indy @ 6 am this morning and drove 5 hours to get to the Burgh for the game.

Bucco bats come through with 5 Rs on 11 Hs as Walker gets 2 H and 2 RBIs to pave the way.

Today's game was on national tv and was the 16th sellout of the year and the 8th straight saturday sellout for the Bucs.

This was Pittsburgh's 124th game of the season and it was also the 100th different starting lineup used by Hurdle. Bucs have only had their starting 8 in 24 games this season.

Game 3 has the Bucs sending MacDonald (8-6, 4.20) to face Leake (10-8, 4.00).

LETS GO BUCS!!!

Reds 5 Bucs 4

Hanrahan blows his 2nd save of the year. This should have been a Bucco win.

Milwaukee comes into the Burgh for a 4 game, 3 day series. This has all the makings of a 5 game losing streak. I hope that I am wrong.

This one was tough to take...Joel blows another...The worst part is it was a bunch of punchin judy hitters that beat him for the most part in the ninth.

Brewers 8 Bucs 1 game 1

Bucs 9 Brewers 2 game 2

Rare twi-night doubleheader.

Bucs look bad in game 1.

Bucs look great in game 2. 7 run 7th inning breaks open a 2-2 game for the Bucs.

First Bucco win vs the Brew crew in 13 tries.

Need another win tonight in game 3.

Brewers 11 Bucs 4

Milwaukee just pounds Ohlendorf in his first MLB pitching performance since last April as they plate 7 runs in the 2nd.

Bucs manage 4 runs.

I guess we have now official thrown in the towel on this season since we started Ohlendorf last night and have called up Aaron Thompson for the spot start tonight. I woud have thought we could have at least waited until this month was over since it included almost all games vs the NL Central.

Looks like a 500 season isn't going to happen this year.

Bucs send the rookie to the mound in game 4. Lets hope we get a win to split the series.

Bucs 2 Brewers 0

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

The rookie, Aaron Thompson, gets the spot start and throws 4 1/3 effective innings (0 R 4 H) but gets no decision because he didn't get thru the 5th. Grilli comes in goes 2 2/3 (0 R 0 H). Veras pitches a perfect 8th and Hanrahan strikes out the side in the 9th for his 32nd save in 35 chances.

Bucco bats squeeze 2 R on 4 H but that is enough to beat the Brewers 0 R on 5 H.

Bucs start a 4 game set Thursday @ St Louis. Morton (9-6, 3.42) faces Jackson (2-2, 4.45). Morton is a sterling 6-1 with a 1.98 ERA vs NL Central teams this year.

LETS GO BUCS!!!

I like this current lineup. It is the same lineup that was used to get the team to 7 games over 500 before the injuries took hold. I would like to see this lineup everyday for the rest of the season and see how it does.

Pressley in LF, McCutchen in CF and Tabata in RF. Harrison at 3rd, d'Arnaud at SS, Walker at 2nd and Jones at 1st. I still prefer McKenry at C over Doumit as the Fort is a better defensive catcher but Doumit does have the better bat. Look for Doumit to play 1st when we face lefties as Jones has his struggles against them.

Still would like for us to pickup a free agent like Jose Reyes to play SS.

Need a win in game 4 to split the series.

Astros 8 Bucs 2

2 runs on 4 hits, terrible. Bucs are now 11 games under 500 and the hopes of a winning season are nearly over.

Need a win in game 3 to keep from being swept.

Astros sweep the Bucs in a 3 game series.

Just shoot me. Put me out of my pain. The worst team in baseball sweeps us.

We score all of 2 runs in the 3 games. We get shutout in the last 2 games. Our hit totals were 13 hits for the series. 5 hits in game 1, 4 each in games 2 and 3.

Pitching did well in games 2 and 3. Both games they only allowed 2 runs each. Good enough for wins on both nights.

Bucs head back to the Burgh for a makeup game vs LA tonight and then to Chicago for the weekend.

Any hopes for a 500 season have been scuttled on the shoals of a very weak offense that borders on the offensive.

Alias, I am lashing myself to the main mast and going down with the ship....

LETS GO BUCS!!!
