IMO, other than Pro Bowl LT Joe Thomas, he is the #2 priority in terms of value to this team. Thomas will be 25 and Cribbs 27 heading into next season, and neither has been susceptible to injury (knock on wood). I honestly dont know why we are having this discussion and why the Browns dont see what I do. They are certainly paying a lot of older, injury prone, useless players a lot more. His $1.1M is a far cry from even the Browns payroll leaders. Something else to consider

He's not that good at anything, other than being a PHENOMINAL return guy.

He can pick up some yards rushing, but if he becomes anything more than he is now in the rushing game,
teams will gameplan to stop him, and do so.

He's not a good reciever, but can make 2 or 3 catches a game.

He deserves to be paid more than he is now, that's not an issue.
The issue is that he is wanting more than he deserves.

He wants more than Hester is making, but nearly everyone in the league is in agreement,
that Hester's contract is one of the worst in football.

He has 10 career return touchdowns, a good receiver gets 10 TDs A YEAR.

I think he's good for 2 mill per year over 5 years, and encentives for non-return stats.
Anything more than that, and the Browns can use the money elsewhere and build a team that
doesn't need to rely on Cribbs for so much production.

This player is Darren Sproles, of the Chargers.

He is in contract negotiations this off-season as well. He got paid huge this year, but that's because
he was a running back and was franchised, making his salary the average of the top 5 paid RBs in the league.

If I'm Cribbs, I make nice with the team, then wait till Sproles signs, and then negotiate with the Browns on contract terms.

Cribbs does more than Hester by playing on special teams as a cover man. Hester returned kicks but then lost what it takes. He is playing as a receiver but was drafted as a defensive back. Cribbs is a better player and he could throw the ball pretty good in college. Also before Harrison came on running at the end of the year he was the best runner on the team. The way he plays and how he gives back to the Cleveland area he needs to be paid.

a team or two might be willing to go 2nd round.

That's not too bad, considering the 4th rounder for Randy Moss, but Randy was viewed as a
lost cause head case at the time in Oakland!

Special teams maybe 1/3 of the game but special teams was how the Browns moved the ball most of the season.

The Browns do need to look at replacing Cribbs on kick coverages to help to prevent injuries. Even though he is one of the best at coverages. Sometimes you need a player who does everything and is a good influence for his team mates. since the Browns have had some problems with that with some receivers lately.
Maybe Holmgren can help improve the offense with some ideas and tips on coaching.
