Brewers 4 Bucs 1

Maholm pitches a good game. 7 innings and only 2 runs allowed. Bucco bats are bad. 10Ks on the night.

Need some offense to go with the good pitching we have had so far. And some defense too.

Sailing towards the Queen City for a battle with the Redlegs.

LETS GO BUCS!!!

Bucs 6 Reds 1

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

Bucs go back on the road and find some offense as they bang out 14 hits. This is their 5th road win of the year. They only had 17 road wins last year.

Charlie Morton gets the complete game and matches his win total from last year, 2.

Down side to this, 9 Ks by the Bucs and another Cedeno error at SS.

Karstens takes the mound vs Leak in game 2.

Need to upgrade at SS.Maybe we could move Walker there and find a second baseman somewhere? Morton looks like he may be rounding into form...Karstens has looked good in his outings as well.

Reds 11 Bucs 2

Disgusting. 2 runs, 6 hits, 8 Ks, 15 runners LOB and another fielding error. Not going to win many games with a box score like that.

Alvarez had the error today, his 4th. Cedeno has 3.

I think the Pirates would like for Rodriguez to take over at SS but I don't think he is going to play his way into our lineup. If they are serious about him then they need to send him back to AAA for more experience. Not sure Walker is the answer either as he seems to be a natural 2nd baseman.

I am beginning to doubt that Alvarez is going to have much of an upside other than a strong, but erratic arm and an occasional hot bat with some pop.

Tabitha and McCutchen are here to stay. Starting pitching and the bullpen are fairly good.

A lot of question marks. This club could be 500 at best, nothing more. Talent can be developed but sometimes you have to make some decent trades which we really haven't.

Karstens gets the spot start vs Volquez. Need to get a win so we can at least get a series split.

Bucs 7 Reds 6

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

This one was a slugfest. Bucs 7 runs, 6 hits and 18 runners LOB. Reds 6 runs, 15 hits and 19 runners LOB.

I like the fact McCutchen and Tabitha get back to back jacks in the first. Still, 8 Ks by Bucco batters and 2 more errors. Reds were just as bad with 10 whiffs and 1 error.

Finally, the offense wins a game when the pitching had an off day.

Bucs get their 6th road win of the year. We only had 17 road wins last year.

Correia vs Wood tomorrow in game 4 as the Bucs at least can do no worse than a series split.

Bucs 9 Reds 3

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

Correia gets the complete game win as the Bucco bats get good wood against Redleg pitching.

Every Bucs position player collects at least 1 hit each as they pound out 15 hits for 9 runs.

Still have 9 whiffs but they made Cincy pitchers throw a whopping 196 pitches on the night.

Bucs are 1 game back in the NL Central.

Ahoy mates! The sails are set as we head for sunny Florida and go fishin for Marlin.

Drink up me hardies, yo ho!

Bucs lose the first 2 games to the fish 6-0 in both games.

Bucco bats have only 7 hits in the first 2 games. Disgusting.

Need a win in game 3 to avoid the sweep.

Bucs 4 Senators 2

Bucs get the win to take 2 of 3 in the series. Maholm goes 7 strong.

Bucs only get 6 hits against the worst ptiching staff in the NL. We need hitters. We should have sweep this series.

Giants come to town for 3. Giants are good and so is their pitching. We need to win another series.

Bucs 2 Giants 0

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

J-Mac goes 6 strong and the bullpen does the rest as they limit the G-men to just 6 hits.

Bucco bats only get 8 hits but they are timely as they do plate 2 runs.

Game 3 Thursday afternoon and another possible series win for the Bucs.

Karstans for the Bucs, Vogelsong for SF.

Giants 5 Bucs 2

Bucs get 2 runs on 4 hits. 3 of their hits were from one player. 12 strikeouts. They also had 4 errors. I want to vomit.

Road trip to Colorado. I hope we find our hitting stroke on this trip.

Bucs 3 Rockies 0

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

Correia (4-2) goes 6 2/3, 0 runs, 3 hits, 4Ks and 1 BB. Bullpen goes 2 1/3, 0 runs, 2 hits, 4Ks and 0 BB. Outstanding pitching!

Pittsburgh pitching leads MLB in most improved ERA from last year to this year. 5.00 to 3.76. Thats a -1.24 drop.

Offense gets just enough runs on 6 hits. Solo HRs by McCutchen and Garrett. Defense gets a clean sheet.

You just can't play much better than what the Bucs did tonight.

This was our 8th road win of the year. Got our 8th road win on May 18th last year.

Game 2 of 3 tomorrow night.

LETS GO BUCS!!!

Rockies 4 Bucs 1

Maholm pitches 6 good innings, but has 1 bad one (4 runs 4 hits) that does him in. Bucs have given him only 9 runs of support in 6 games as he falls to 1-4.

McCutchen leads the game off with a HR (his 8th career leadoff HR) but that is all the offense they could muster. 1 run, 7 hits and grounding into 3 DPs.

Former 2007 Bucco first round pick Daniel Moskos (LHP) makes his major league debut and pitches a perfect 8th. He got the callup because Meek was placed on the 15 day DL.

Game 3 tomorrow afternoon. If the Bucs can win, it will be their 4th road series win of the year which will tie their total road series wins from last year.

Bucs 8 Rockies 4

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

Bucs get their 4th road series win of the year as they go 2-1 in this 3 game set. Bucs had only 4 road series wins last year.

Morton gets the win (3-1) as he goes 5+ but does have some control problems.

Bucco bullpen, the best in MLB, snuffs out the rally as they pitch 3 2/3 scoreless innings.

Pirate bats are starting to show some life as they hammer out 12 hits and get 8 runs. Xavier Paul, picked up off the waiver wire from the Dodgers, gets the spot start in LF and bangs out 2 hits and pickups 2 RBIs.

Buccos set sail for a 3 game series in balmy San Diego where I hear they have a stash of rum for the taking.

Drink up me hardies, yo ho!

Bucs 4 Padres 3

RAISE THE JOLLY ROGER!!!

Buccos get 4 runs in the 1st on 4 hits and 2 HRs to give J-Mac (2-2) the early lead as he goes 6 innings, 2 Rs, 5 hits, 1 BB and 5 Ks.

Bullpen goes 3 strong, 1 R on 4 hits. Veras, signed in the off-season, continues to impress with his 5th hold and Hanrahan gets his 9th save in as many tries.

Karstens is slated to take the hill for the Buccos in game 2.

SD 6 Pirates 5

Padres get the early lead but the Bucs battle back to go up 5-3 in the 7th only to see the usually relieable bullpen blow the lead.

Beimel gets the lose and Karstans gets the embrassment of giving up a HR to the other teams starting pitcher.

Game 3 and the Bucs are looking for the win to take the series before sailing for home.

Bucs 7 Padres 4

Kevin "The road warrior" Correia goes 6+ innings, 2 R, 5 H, 2 BB and 3 Ks to raise his road record to 5-0 and a 1.55 ERA. His overall record stands at 5-2 with a 2.91 ERA.

Ryan Doumit gets his 3 career grand slam to lead Bucco batters to 7 R on 8 H and the defense gets a clean sheet.

This was the Buccos 5th road series win of the year. We only won 4 road series last year. This was our 11th road win of the year and we didn't get our 11th road win until June 28th of last year.

Now we need to start getting some wins at PNC Park.

Bucs have the day off on thursday and the Astros come to the Burgh for the weekend homestand.
