Re: 2011 Cincinnati Reds
Jocketty is trying to grab James Shields from the Rays, which would give the Reds a helluva 1-2 punch with him and Cueto, and they would have a starter that would be able to eat alot of innings too. (He has 7 CG this year which is an unfathomable amount in todays game)

Re: 2011 Cincinnati Reds
That is good news about Cozart. He is a young player who is proving that he can be the starting everyday shortstop. My question is why Baker refuses to play Heisey? He started Gomes in LF today who let a fly ball drop in front of him and did nothing at the plate. He started Lewis in RF who dropped a fly ball today. Heisey came in and hit a double. Everyone but Baker can see Heisey has the talent to be the everyday LFer. The Reds need to trade Gomes they have plenty of outfielders and haven't even brought their #1 prospect up who plays OF/1B Yonder Alonso. I would like to see them trade one of the catchers although both have played well but they have to great young catchers in Devin Mesoraco and Yesmani Grandal. I like they brought Todd Frazier up to play some 3B and get some experience. Looking at the Reds roster they should be good for quite a few years with all the young players that are playing and coming up.

Heisey-AVG-249, HR-12, RBI-34, SO-53
Gomes-AVG-212, HR-11, RBI-31, SO-74
Heisey is by far the better defensive player and is young and never been given the chance to be the every day left fielder. There are a lot of teams that would like to have Heisey. Like the announcers keep saying he is going to be a starting outfielder somewhere.
I like what Hernandez and Hanigan have done as well but both are getting up in age and the Reds have two top rated young catchers. Keep one of the veterans to help one of the young catchers out. Gomes shouldn't be brought back, Cairo has another year on his contract and does a great job filling his role. With Cozart playing like he is the Reds won't need both Renteria and Janish. I would say they definitely keep Bailey not so sure about Volquez, I think he has worn his welcome out and Arroyo is on the down hill side of his career. Although I thought Harrang was done and he went to San Diego and has an 8-2 record but it is hard to give up a HR in that ball park. What I was saying that most of the Reds starting line up is young and they have some good young talent coming to fill in for the veterans so they should be good for a few years. The only old starters they have are at 3b, C, one starting pitcher and a closer.

Re: 2011 Cincinnati Reds
Does anyone who has watched the Reds this year honestly have the feeling they are going to sort things out and make a run for the title? Don't know what it is but they don't have that look of a confident defending champion. Time to shed some assets and play for next year.
Re: 2011 Cincinnati Reds
To be honest i feel like there done no matter if they make a move or not they just can't put it together this yeardazed&confused wrote:Does anyone who has watched the Reds this year honestly have the feeling they are going to sort things out and make a run for the title? One thing I am definitely tired of seeing is giving up hits to opposing pitchers.
