2023 Cincinnati Reds
Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
Also, the wonder boy De La Cruz is batting .301 but struck out 7 times against the Orioles. Either feast or famine with him. They could live with it if the pitching was better.

Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
The Rookies came up big in extra innings! McLain tied it up, Elly with a big double and Steer walked it off. This team is fun to watch man. They never give up. Ashcraft pitched good today as well. Big win!
Who Dey!
Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
From the penthouse to the outhouse! First I remembered the Redlegs getting blown out like that in a while. Votto down to .152 and the bullpen? I know geronimo is not happy with that today. Oh well it's just one game. Got to forget that one!
Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
Because one I don't trust the Coaching and his bone head moves next if past comes back, after the break they will fold hope not this time and the other there tied with the Brewers and after the next series there at the Brewers for three games ?!!!

Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
Abbott with a beautiful game today. Bullpen almost blew it again, geronimo! Steer on a roll!
Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
Steer is one good ball player , McClain is one He$$ of a hitter !!! But jmo India is the back bone of the Reds !!!
Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
I love how much firepower this offense is capable of. Even when our pitching hasn't been fully healthy as of late, our offense can keep us in any ball game. Here's a few of my thoughts as we approach the All-Star break. (FYI, Reds have a winning home and away record in the first half of the season)
Let's start with who I believe is the leader of this team currently, Jonathan India (Like Geronimo stated above). India is a guy who has played in almost every game this season and gives it his all each time. Fights through any pain and is a guy who will always be in your corner. I like being able to talk lineup positions so here's some info on India between where he bats in the order..
1st: 49 G, 184 AB, 52 H, 41 R, 3 HR, 19 RBI, .283/.376/.789 OPS
3rd: 34 G, 133 AB, 28 H, 20 R, 8 HR, 26 RBI, .211/.298/.704 OPS
Now I'm not implying I dislike Friedl as our leadoff, however given these numbers I think it's fair to say that India performs much better as the 1. I understand he has more homers batting 3rd but that comes with it. We have more guys who can bat 3rd and produce the same if not better (Steer, Fraley, etc.) What I'm looking at is the hit difference and the OBP and OPS plus more than double runs scored.
McLain is a flat out stud and I think if he got the call up at the beginning of the season vs when he did, we'd be looking at an all star. The NL starting 2B are Luis Arraez who's batting just shy of 400 and has played in 79 games and Ozzie Albies whos hitting 20 HR and 59 RBI playing in 83 games - they're very deserving but McLain has only played in 43 (!!) games and has a line of .313/.375/.924 OPS with 7 HR and 28 RBI. Very very solid numbers from our rookie and future star (I believe)
Spencer Steer has been another shining star for us and he's also only a rookie! He's currently batting .283/.374/.826 OPS with 14 HR 50 RBI and 9 SB. Couldn't ask for much more out of a young guy who has been more than willing to play any position available to him and thriving at each one to help his team win. I'd guess in the years to come he will also be a future all star.
Switching to pitching, we have definitely been hurting.. Lodolo and Greene on the IL and Ashcraft just coming back with what has been a shaky start for him (Sophomore year jitters?) but a huge bright spot coming in Andrew Abbott who has pitched exceptionally well since his call up. In 6 games, he has accumulated a 4-0 record over 37.1 IP with only 5 ER and 42 K's giving him an outstanding 1.21 ERA. He also has a 10.1 SO/9 ratio.
A huge congrats to Alexis Diaz who earned his way to the All-Star game! Way to represent the Cincinnati Reds! Diaz has appeared in 38 G so far with a 2.19 ERA and 3-1 record. He has 23 saves this season which is just 1 behind of a tie in the NL. Very well done!!
Sorry for the long post but you all know how passionate and optimistic I am about these Reds! I've been saying it all year and love to see it all happen. All this being said, let's go win our next series @ Nationals and finish out the 1st half of our season the right way. Go Reds!!

Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
Agree on India, but have trust in any of them guys making something happen at any given time. That whole team is loaded with fighters. Don't want to say much. I'm afraid of giving them bad luck. GO REDS!
Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
Looks like the two front runners starting to pull away Big show down this weekend
Re: 2023 Cincinnati Reds
And here is India having a 2 homer day yesterday!! As well as Steer + Elly both having 4 hits each! Good win for the Redlegs - back to being up 1 game in the Central. Go ahead and take these next two vs the Nationals and claim the series vs the Brewers to close out the 1st half!

Thick and thin here. Always on board, but when I blab too much it seems to go down hill for them. GO REDS!
