As of August 14th, 2021 Cincinnati is 63-55, claiming second place in the NL Central, a full 8 games games back of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Reds are playing at a .534 clip havng won six of their last 10 games.

The positive note is that the Reds are within 2.5 games of San Diego for a wild card playoff spot. The not so good news is the Reds have only 44 games left to catch the Brewers.

Pitching wins championships and Milwaukee's staff has allowed 130 fewer runs than the Reds.

I would say the wild card is the only thing in play which is great. The Reds would likely need to go 35-8 the rest of way to overtake the BrewCrew. The Reds being in contention in the middle of August is a strange and wonderful thing.

I really love this team....most of the time. I'd like to see Bell widdle down who he uses out of the bullpen, or at least limit some guys compared to others. The main 4 guys out of that bullpen right now should be Givens, Wilson, Cessa, and Lorenzen. I don't like using Hembree in all these clutch situations, it makes me very nervous.

The are done with any hope of catching Milwaukee. 9.5 games back with 40 to play. They are 10 back in the loss column. The Brewer's magic number is 32. Any combination of brew crew wins or Reds losses totaling that number and Cincy is done in the division. The good news is the wild card where they are 1.5 back.

As of 08/21/2021 the second place Reds are 68-57. They are 7.5 games back of Milwaukee with 37 games left to play in the regular season. Cincy has won three straight and seven out of their last ten. I think this is the first time the Reds have more than ten games over .500 since 2013.

The Reds. are tied with San Diego for the last wild card playoff spot. The Padres have lost eight of their last ten.

Although against a poor Marlins team, the Reds picked up a 4-game series sweep, which is hard to do, no matter who you play. They are now in sole possession of the second wild card spot.

Reds lost to Brewers, 7-4. Milwaukee is now 8.5 games up with a magic number of 28. Cincy is now tied with San Diego for the last wild card spot.
