RE: cold in Cleveland
I remember going to opening day one year in the old Stadium on Labor Day weekend and wearing shorts because it was in the 80s when we left for the game. I forgot that our seats were under roof and the wind was ripping off the lake as per usual. Didnt even have a windbreaker and froze my blessed assurance off!
I know I'm hijacking a thread but one more....In 1988, on my birthday (December 18), I was at the stadium for the final game of the season. The Browns had to beat Houston to get in the playoffs. Bernie was hurt and the Browns were down to Don Strock. It was cold and the snow was swirling in the lights like a surreal snow globe. The Browns fell behind be about three touchdowns and it just kept getting colder. I almost left but then Strock caught fire. They just kept coming back and finally Webster Slaughter caught the winning pass right in front of us. I wasn't cold then, at least not until I walked to the car. My favorite birthday ever!
