Browns beating Steelers at half
Re: Browns beating Steelers at half
When I was little I was a steeler fan. I loved my Franco Harris jersey.
Re: Browns beating Steelers at half
What the browns did in the past is fine. But you always compare them, YOU said because they have same history.
Bengals didnt have a team till 68. Now it is harder now with 32 teams to make it to superbowl compared to 6,12 etc.
On a lighter note , I e-mailed bruce on the show all bets are off, I told him that YOU would make a great GM for the browns. Said he knows everything about the browns and can turn the team around in 2 years.
I did get an e-mail back from staff , said they never heard of you, wanted to know what college you were coaching in.

And your math skills are seriously lacking as well. There was never in my lifetime a six team NFL. The NFL played a 12 game schedule until 1961, a fourteen game schedule until 1977 and the present sisteen game schedule since. Back in the day unless you won your division you did not make the playoffs; thus making the regular season more important than it is today. I guess you, on the other hand side with the owners and the networks, and want your watered down playoff system that makes it possible for a medicore football team to either get hot for a few weeks or upset a better team in the one and done crapshoot that is the playoffs now.
I dont care if you had 12 teams or 32 teams, if you had to have the best record to represent your conference in the championship game today, in all liklihood Indy and New Orleans would have EARNED that right over a sixteen game schedule on the field and wouldnt have to play a bunch of lesser teams and hope they didnt get upset.
Here are the Browns regular season records the years they played in the NFL Championship game back then: 10-2, 11-1, 8-4, 11-1, 9-3, 9-2-1, 9-2-1, 10-3-1, 11-3, 10-4, 10-3-1.
Either way, the Super Bowl is nothing more or less than the NFL Champion, which is exactly what the Browns were four times; playoffs or not. NFL Champions! Anything else is semantics. You are wasting your time trying to convince me that an NFL championship is any different now than then. At the end of the day they are the same league and the same championship.
At the end of the day the Steelers and Browns have more Superbowls than the bengals. Every bengal fan I know except for 1 is mental. They either think "oh we won a game we are going to the Superbowl!" or, (my least favorite) "Ohh we lost we suck and we are the worst team on the face of the earth". They all seriously need to be checked into a hospital and be heavily medicated.

I cant say it any plainer than that, and I hope you dont mean to infer that only a pro football GM has a right to an intelligent, fact supported position about his franchise. Surely not.
But to demonstrate one last time EXACTLY how similar the Bengals of the 90s were and the Browns of this decade are, and thus make my case AGAIN, here are the ten year history of both franchises:
BENGALS
1990 9-7
1991 3-13
1992 5-11
1993 3-13
1994 3-13
1995 7-9
1996 8-8
1997 7-9
1998 3-13
1999 4-12
TOTAL 52-108
1 winning season
1 playoff
BROWNS
1999 2-14
2000 3-13
2001 7-9
2002 9-7
2003 5-11
2004 4-12
2005 6-10
2006 4-12
2007 10-6
2008 4-12
TOTALS 54-106
2 winning seasons
1 playoff
I DONT SEE HOW YOU COULD GET MUCH CLOSER, AND THUS THEY MORE THAN ANY OTHER FRANCHISE IN THE NFL HAS SUFFERED AS MUCH OVER AN ENTIRE DECADE AS THE BENGALS AND BROWNS.
Now do you get it? It's not personal; it's statistical! And a matter of record.
Ok buddy, but i still think you would make a good gm for the browns !!!

Re: Browns beating Steelers at half
Well, it would be the first time we had a GM since the Browns returned. I know he'd never leave the Bums in Baltimore but I sure wish we could get Ozzie Newsome back where he belongs! I'd give up a 1st round pick as compensation to get him. The Browns would just waste the pick anyway.

Re: Browns beating Steelers at half
All jokes aside if Holmgren goes to the Browns he will turn the program around.
Re: Browns beating Steelers at half
Holmgrem left and they didnt even talk money ??? But he was there and talking. Also the gm job in washington opened up. Do you think he would want it ????
