I dont care how good an athlete is; if his mind is somewhere else I doubt that he is good enough to overcome that.
The Reds announcers were speculating Friday night if he would be traded before the weekend was over. Im not saying that was what happened to Oswalt. Probably not. Just a thought I had as the Reds were getting to him in an unaccustomed way.
Also, the Cards are 17 over .500 in Carpenter and Wainright's starts, so do the math on the rest of the starters. Anyone think Oswalt wont make a difference?
Ever since the Reds first hit ten over .500 they've basically been a .500 club. Gotta find another gear. Bout time to get off this plateau and get on another run. I still think it will take 92 wins to win the Central....not sure about what it will take to get the wild card.
Jeff Brantley made that point in the top of the third inning last night. He said that with all that is on Oswalt's mind, you have a habit of just throwing what the catcher puts down. The trouble with that logic, according to Brantley, is that Houston had a rookie catcher last night. if Oswalt was just throwing what the catcher put down, no wonder he got lit up.
