In 1982, Dave Kingman won the HR title with 37 ..led the league in SOs with 156 and had a batting average of .204..the lowest for a HR champion.

Carl Yastrzemski won the batting title in 1968 with the lowest average ever .301
He had 162 hits that year.

In his previous 210 batters Zach Greinke allowed 4 ER....then today allowed 5 ER in the first 5 batters faced today

....as a side note he had 3 hits including a HR and won the game

Aroldis Chapman of the Reds recorded the fastest pitch of 105 MPH. He has been clock at throwing 101 MPH or more 253 times going into the 2015 season.

I don't understand how they consider fastest pitch ever,Nolan Ryan was laser radar throwing one at 108.1 mph (1974) and Bob Feller was chronographed at 107.6 back in 1946.After further research I found the answer,today pitches are measured closer to the hand,back then closer to the plate which means they would lose speed by the time reaching home plate.They used the fifty foot equivalent to measure Ryan and Feller's pitches which would have theorectically been faster than Chapman's.

Before the 1920 season you could throw a spit ball. Burleigh Grimes and a few others were grand-father in and were allow to keep throwing it. Grimes was the last to be allowed to throw a spit ball. He retired in 1934 with 270 wins.
Pitchers even threw what was called shine balls, emory balls.

The deadball era ended when Carl May, in 1920, fatally beaned Ray Chapman in the head.
