I don't understand how they consider fastest pitch ever,Nolan Ryan was laser radar throwing one at 108.1 mph (1974) and Bob Feller was chronographed at 107.6 back in 1946.After further research I found the answer, today pitches are measured closer to the hand, back then closer to the plate which means they would lose speed by the time reaching home plate. They used the fifty foot equivalent to measure Ryan and Feller's pitches which would have theorectically been faster than Chapman's.noreply66 wrote:Aroldis Chapman of the Reds recorded the fastest pitch of 105 MPH.
