I believe all of this has been going on for a very long time. Different ways. Different methods. When I was 11yrs old. I would lick my two fingers on my throwing hand And boy could I make a baseball drop from the little league distance. Without licking my two fingers I could make it break decent. But when I could grip the ball better with the seams it would start at your chin and chest and end up below the belt to the knees. That was in 1992 as a child my point I’m trying to make is that has been going for a very very long time. The Astros just got caught.

Finding an "edge" is part of the historical fabric of baseball. I helped coach 6U and 8U the last two years. Working the umps, metal fungo bats, and even a ringer or two were coaching tactics I faced. What was sad this was rec ball, not a travel league.

Well said. Have you seen how many the Astros batters have been hit with balls this spring training ??? Won’t be to much longer and it’s on like donkey Kong. They are taking it for now. But let it continue and see what we are talking about in a month

Re: 2020 Cincinnati Reds
Reds closer from last season picks up where he left off from ! Pitch 0.2 of a inning gave up 4 hits 4 runs and 1 HR ? If thats your closer ???
Re: 2020 Cincinnati Reds
Lets hope that Votto is just saving some of those hits that he has yet to get, for the regular season. Lol I agree about the closer, he was god awful last season.

Re: 2020 Cincinnati Reds
Not too concerned. Spring training results of games mean nothing. Winning and losing doesn't matter.
For example: If a pitcher decides he is working on his slider, and he is put into a game in spring training, and the only thing he is doing that game is working on improving his slider, he may give up 5 consecutive home runs on that slider. But you know what? He is going to keep working on that slider regardless. That's how spring training works. You work on things, improve yourself, and just prepare yourself for the season. Not even the players are concerned about winning and losing in spring training.
Re: 2020 Cincinnati Reds
Spring training mean nothing record wise agree, but like pitching when you get your shot you got to act on it ! Just hope Votto and the father time act don't boil over into opening day ?
Re: 2020 Cincinnati Reds
Getting really close to the regular season, I’m stoked. I’ve already got a sick day at work put in so I don’t miss opening day. Lol
Who Dey!
Re: 2020 Cincinnati Reds
I don't think that it is as big of a deal for the Reds as it once was. Not sure why Major League Baseball pulled the rug out from underneath the Reds the way that they did, probably something to do with $$ though. Opening day and the big parade in downtown Cincinnati was always a big tradition for many years for the Reds, plus for a number of years it was always the Reds that would always play the first game of the season. TV is such a big player in every sport now days, that very rarely can you even turn the TV on, without having to watch your big market cities 95% of the time.
