Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
The Bengals have acquired defensive end Bryce Sterk on Friday. They claimed him after he was waived by Miami On August 13th. Sterk, a rookie from Montana State University, signed with Miami as an undrafted free agent in April. The Dolphins were in the process of possibly converting the 6'5", 261 lb to tight end.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
For the second day in a row, the Bengals have added another defensive end to the roster. They have signed Amani Bledsoe to a free agent contract. Bledsoe played 3 years at Oklahoma, and started 14 games as a senior. He was with the Tennessee Titans in 2019 on their practice squad, before being waived this past July.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Bengals rookie wide receiver Tee Higgins out of Clemson, has been dealing with an undisclosed injury that has kept him from even participating in walk through and team workouts. The Bengals selected Higgins with the 33rd pick in the 2020 NFL draft. Training camp was already going to be tough on him due to the virtual off season and no preseason games. They have also placed wide receiver John Ross on the reserve/Covid-19 list after his 3 yr old son contracted the virus, and Ross returned to California to be with his son.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Bengals CB Trae Waynes has undergone surgery, and no doubt will miss a sizable portion of the 2020 NFL season. Waynes had surgery for a torn pectoral, and it's hopeful that the 28 yr old might possibly be able to come back and not miss the whole season. Waynes being out of the lineup this early in training camp, and for the foreseeable future, is a big time loss for a team looking to turn it's fortune around in the 2020 season.VetteMan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2020 4:40 pm The Bengals are really hoping that they haven't lost Trae Waynes for two months with a pectoral injury, although that's what initial reports seem to indicate. It's also being reported that he is seeking a second opinion. Trae Waynes was one of the big free-agent signings this past offseason, as the Bengals signed the former Michigan State defensive back to a three year contract. Bengals head coach had nothing to say about the injury, except to say that they've got a heck of a lot more depth at cornerback this August than what they had laqst August.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
The Cincinnati Bengals have waived second year running back Rodney Anderson on Monday after he failed his physical. The Bengals selected Anderson in the 6th Rd of the 2019 NFL draft. He missed his entire rookie season after he suffered a torn right ACL in the Bengals final preseason game. He was a teammate of Joe Mixon at Oklahoma. He had the ability to be an outstanding running back, even when he was at Oklahoma, but even then he couldn't escape the injury bug.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Joe Burrow received a bit of a rude awakening the first day in pads Tuesday, after what he considered a strong start to training camp Sunday and Monday. Burrow had to scramble out of trouble under pressure from the defensive line several times during team drills and ended the practice on a tough note, fumbling a snap and throwing an interception while running the red zone offense. The interception was tipped by Sam Hubbard and picked off by Carlos Dunlap, who earlier intercepted a pass by Ryan Finley. Even Burrow wasn't satisfied, It was okay, It wasn't what you would like to see on red-zone day, but it was the first one. Maybe if the offensive line could block a little better, he wouldn't have to scramble all day long, being that the offensive line has been one of the main weakness's the last couple years.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
The Bengals completely remade their defense this offseason in hopes of being a much better unit in 2020. Unfortunately, two important roll players were carted off the field during practice this week. Safety Shawn Williams injured his calf on Tuesday, but reports are that he is expected to be back in action for the Bengals week #1 season opener against the Chargers on September 13th. Renell Wren's injury appeared to be more serious.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
The Bengals Renell Wren's injury appears to be more serious than was first hoped for. He went down during practice during 11 on 11 drill. He made it to the cart and then had a MRI on his leg. He has a significant Quadriceps injury and is seeking a second opinion. The injury could require surgery, which would effectively end Wren's chances of playing in 2020.VetteMan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 3:47 pm The Bengals completely remade their defense this offseason in hopes of being a much better unit in 2020. Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Joe Burrow said he wasn't really sure what to expect out of the first red-zone day. He said he was excited to see how the defense changed up certain coverage's they played, where I could have gone with the ball, where I couldn't have gone with the ball. It's all about understanding what you're trying to do on every single play. He also said that he felt comfortable with the offense right now. I feel at ease with my guys. I think we're going to be pretty good on offense. I'm excited more than nervous.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Bengals wide receiver Mike Thomas has worked with head coach Zac Taylor before while they both were with the Los Angles Rams. That familiarity has helped him vault to the first team offense with A.J. Green, Tee Higgins and John Ross. Mike Thomas is an experienced guy that I was around for a couple years, he has explosiveness about him that he really gets on those DB's very quickly. Thomas,26, has spent the first four yr of his NFL career with the Rams. He's a good route runner and seems to be building a good rapport with Burrow, who threw a touchdown pass to Thomas during 7 on 7 in the red zone on Tuesday.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
All eyes are going to be on the offensive line of the Bengals for the duration of training camp, whether it's 2019 1st Rd pick Johan Williams or 2nd Rd pick Michael Jordan, this group has a lot to prove. After a couple practices, it appears as if Bobby Hart has a clear edge over Fred Johnson at right tackle. The same goes for Xavier Su'a-Filo who took all of the first team snaps at right guard on Monday and Tuesday. Billy Price lined up at center and guard with the second team both days. Hopefully Billy Price can avoid some of the nagging injuries that he had last year, as he can play 2 or 3 positions on the line when he's healthy.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
The Bengals have plenty of new faces at linebacker. They drafted three of them and added multiple veterans, including Josh Bynes. Sometimes you want to make sure there's not two rookies standing there next to each other. You try to get them in there with one of the veteran guys, whether it's Josh Bynes or Austin Calitro or Jordon Evans and then get one of the younger guys next to them to kind of bring them along, that way they can grow on top of communication. He said that they are looking at each playerand that it isn't about who is playing with the 1st or 2nd team at this stage of camp.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
The offense for the Bengals should run through Joe Mixon this season. A.J. Green has carried the Bengals for years and they will still expect a lot from him, but giving the ball to #28 early and often should be the recipe for success. The Bengals and Mixon continue to discuss a potential extension, hopefully they can agree to terms. Burrow is great at getting the ball to his running backs out of the backfield, and Mixon is a good receiver for a running back. If the offense runs through Mixon, he should have a big year on the ground and through the air as well.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross is set to return to the Bengals. The 24 yr old left camp earlier to be with his 3 yr old son who had tested positive for Covid-19. Ross still has to pass Covid-19 protocol, but once he returns to the team, he can give the wide receiver room a much needed boost.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green didn't take part in Fridays scrimmage, but that didn't throw QB Joe Burrow off stride. There were quite a few reports of Burrow's strong showing against the Bengals defense. He started by going 6 for 6 for 69 yards on a drive that was capped by a 6 yard touchdown pass to Auden Tate. He and Tate hooked up for another score as Burrow went 3 for 4 for 32 yards on the next drive. Zac Taylor said after the workout that Burrow had good control of the offense. Reports said that he went 13 for 19 with scores on all 5 possessions. I guess one shouldn't make too much of a scrimmage performance, but every sign that the Bengals may have gotten their franchise QB is going to be savored in Cincinnati this summer.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Bengals wide receiver John Ross was back at practice on Sunday. The Bengals activated Ross from the reserve/Covid-19 list. He had been on the list since August 12th, after leaving training camp to tend to his 3 yr old son and his son's mother in Los Angles, who had both been infected with coronavirus. He said that they both are doing good, much better than before. Ross traveled back to Cincinnati last Thursday, and has passed 3 Covid-19 tests before reporting back to practice.VetteMan wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 12:34 am Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver John Ross is set to return to the Bengals. Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Bengals wide receiver John Ross said he doesn't blame the Bengals for declining the option on his 5th year. The 24yr old has had plenty of downs during his pro career. He has only played in 24 out of 48 games since he was drafted in 2017. I need to play all 16 games, and I need to make plays in every game, it's on me to do that.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
The Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Mackensie Alexander has left the teams training camp after learning of his father's mysterious disappearance while on a berry picking trip. Mackensie's father, Jean Odney Alexander, 65, came to northwest Okeechobee County in Florida with another man Monday to pick palmetto berries somewhere on the praire, and the other man left him behind and has since left the county. The Sheriffs Office is currently undergoing a search for Mackensie's father.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
The Cincinnati Bengals today signed C- Frederick Mauigoa and DT- Kahlil McKenzie, who were both free agents. The team also waived WR-Damion Willis and G-Clay Cordaseo. Mauigoa (6'4", 310 lb) is a rookie out of Washington State, while McKenzie (6'3", 320 lb) is a second year player out of University of Tennessee.
Re: Joe Burrows - #1 to the Bengals!!!!!!
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback MacKensie Alexander was taken into custody after his arrest Tuesday, shortly after leaving the teams training camp to be with his family in Florida, where his father is missing. The Collier County Sheriffs database shows that Alexander was charged with one count of battery, although no arrest report had been released as of Wednesday morning. Officials said he is expected to appear in Collier County Circuit Court on Wednesday afternoon. Alexander, according to the NFL Network, allegedly confronted a man who had left behind his 65 year old father, Jean Odney Alexandre, as the two were on a berry picking trip. Alexandre, whose last name has a different spelling than his son's, was reported missing Monday, where he lives with Alexander's mother in Immokalle, Florida.VetteMan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 25, 2020 9:42 pm The Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Mackensie Alexander has left the teams training camp after learning of his father's mysterious disappearance while on a berry picking trip.
