2010 Bengals
Its obvious that Cinci's biggest problem is offensive...the passing game more specifically....
No one has come close to rplacing TJ's 60 third down catches a season. Carson has no consistent slot threat.
My question is...
Will Cinci even touch defense before the 4th round of the draft? My opinion would be no...with the issues at WR, TE, FB etc....
I know that Zimmer knows you stay good on defense by drafting defense...but he doesn't call the shots..

Re: 2010 Bengals
WE NEED TO ADDRESS THE QB SITUATION, A DEEP THREAT , MARDY GILYARD, A FRESH RUNNING BACK, AND POSSIBLY A TIGHT END, BEFORE WE EVEN LOOK AT DEFENSE. OUR DEFENSE WAS GOOD, OUR OFFENSE , NOT SO MUCH , IF THE RUNNING GAME WAS DOWN. THERE WERE MANY GREAT RUNNING BACKS PASSED ON LAST YEAR.
Re: 2010 Bengals
Lets not forget that the bengals lost both TE early in the season. I would go for gilyard up front. Then i would get a TE. Than i would get a safety. There going to try to sigh williams who went out with a broken arm . He needs a good back up. Benson has scott as a back up (if Healthy) . I think they still have LJ as a running back. And the used that guy that took scotts place as kick off return as a WR last 2 games.

Re: 2010 Bengals
Chase Coffman couldn't learn the NFL offensive systems, he can't block, and he was very overrated.
He will be living in a van, down by the river soon.

Re: 2010 Bengals
Over rated. He can catch the ball and is tall. Guess knowing where to go is important also. Now if you can combine the way TO runs routes with Coffmans hands that would be a great player.
This is suppose to be one of the reasons for the combine and the looking into the players before the draft. They say a major part of the pro game is mental. Maybe Coffman can make the the adjustment or he can be like the Steelers Limas Sweed a player with talent but not on a Pro Field.
I think a good pass catching TE will be more valuable than a deep threat. They do not have a possession receiver to help get first downs. Gilyard can be a good addition as a possession receiver who can also run deep. Scott at RB showed some very good talent last year. Johnson if he will stay as a reserve player that makes a good group. If Johnson decides to go then looking at a RB but lately some of the best RB's have come from round 3 on. If Scott is healthy with his speed he maybe able to help out as a WR also.
There are some good lineman who maybe available in the later rounds. The need for good backups is needed in some positions. Also a lineman who can block as a TE.
A QB would be a good addition but would that cause trouble with Palmer like it did when the Eagles drafted Kolb and ticked off McNAbb.

Re: 2010 Bengals
I think the bengals need to darft a good qb and let him watch Palmer for a year or so and work him in slow. After Palmer got his knee hurt he just dont seem like the same qb. Before he got his knee hurt he was right up there with Manning and Brady i know he still doesnt have TJ but come on like the last 4 games of the season i dont think he had over 25 passing yard in the first half in any of them...

Re: 2010 Bengals
They need to draft Gresham from Oklahoma with in the first round, with Carson not being the same qb you need a big target that can catch. Next in round two go for wide reciever, you are not going to replace TJ or Chris Henry this year so don't bother, just get the best in round two. Third round needs to be defense, was the defense good this year, yes, but did it also let us down at the end, yes. The reason is depth, we had no depth on defense and it showed the last few weeks of the season.
Re: 2010 Bengals
There was quite a few games where Palmer didn't have many yards passing. The question that needs answered is how much of that was Palmer not being good or was it the play calling and not very good receiving core? Many of the young receivers were hurt and Coles was a waste. Maybe a change of play caller will be more of a help?
There are some questions that the incoming QB's need to answer with all the workouts. Some are health issues and some just how will they be able to adapt to the Pro Game. One thing is they will not be wasting a top pick like they have in the past on some bust QB's.
A good WR they can pick up with the 3 pick is Jordan Shipley. He would make a good 3rd receiver and a possession receiver while helping out on special teams. They can still get another WR with the 1 or 2 pick.
The Bengals could go free agent in get DB Sharper to not only help the defense but a proven winner in the locker room.

Re: 2010 Bengals
First off, Carson still is in the top five in NFL qb's as far as physical tools... He is victim of recent injury, a lack of weapons, and an offense that has experienced a paradime shift from 2005... They run the ball first... It's gonna hurt his numbers...
As for chase.... If the bengals had any faith in the medical mystery that is chase coffman then they wouldn't be considering a TE at #1

Re: 2010 Bengals
I really think the bengals will draft a TE, Than a safety. But it will depend on who is left when its there turn.
Def coach zimmer really wants a safety. His def was ranked 4th last year , but said they werent good enough against the pass.

Re: 2010 Bengals
Once again Mike Brown is showing why the Bengals will NEVER win a superbowl as long as he is in control of the team. They have absolutely NOTHING in the passing game since letting TJ go to Seattle and instead of jumping on Marshall or Boldin they allow the Ravens to upgrade their passing attack (which will come back to haunt them) leaving them with the draft to upgrade at wr and we know how that will work out. Look at it this way Bengal fans...whats another 20 years??????

Re: 2010 Bengals
Yea I definetly think the Bengals should have made some aggressive moves in free agency, but it's the Bengals, it would be to outta place for them to try and better themselves.
