It was great to see the Lakers play good enough to win but they will need to up their level of play a lot if they are going to keep the title.

There D looked pretty good last night. Does anyone else think that the finals should be like the rest of the playoffs 2,2,1,1,1 instead of this 2,3,2 format? IMO it doesnt make must sence, I think it gives a edge to the away team.

I personally like the 2-3-2 format for the finals. It kind of shakes things up, and cuts down on the travel big time from LA to Boston.

Game 2 is going to be very important for LA. If Boston wins game 2 the series goes back to Boston for 3 straight, and I can't see LA getting anymore than 1 game in Boston.

Personally I dont like the 2-3-2 if you have the home court advantage. If you lose one of the first two at home, you are forced to at least win one on the road just to GET back home for the last two games. In the 2-2-1-1-1, games 5 and 7 are at home and even if you split the first four, it is still a best two out of three with home court still favoring the best record.

Ah yes Phil Jackson the zen master. The man who has benefited from coaching the likes of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, prime Shaquille O'neal, and Kobe Bryant over the years. 3 of the aforementioned being in the top 10 ever to play the game.

Records are meant to be broken. The only thing I know is that the last time these 2 teams played in the finals Boston won easily. It's a different year with different teams. So we shall see how it turns out this time.

The NBA is fixed for the Lakers anyway in my opinion. They are David Stern's cash cow with their Hollywood bandwagon fanbase. Take for instance not more than 3 years ago the Lakers stunk. This was after Shaq had left town, and went on to win a title in Miami with Dwayne Wade. Kobe couldn't win a title without the big man, and then something astonishing happens. Poof the Lakers trade for/steal Pau Gasol from Memphis for Kwame Brown. Let me say that again in case you missed it. The Lakers traded Kwame Brown for Pau Gasol. One guy is horrible the other guy is arguably the best center in the game. Charles Barkley called it "Highway Robbery", and publicly criticized the trade. With that one trade LA became a power again. Amazingly Jerry West a former Laker is the Memphis GM. I wonder how the crooked trade was approved. Jerry West is also a guy that is always on tv professing his "Man Love" for Kobe Bryant.

Tim Donaghy disgraced NBA ref talked in his book about how the NBA fixed games for LA. The most notable was the 2002 western conference finals between the Lakers and the Sacramento Kings. Anyone who watched game 6 knew something was up. I remember watching it with some buddies in disbelief at the officiating. The Kings were blatantly robbed of an NBA title because Sacramento doesn't bring the name recognition that LA does. I've never seen anything like it in professional sports. Google it or go to youtube and watch it. You will see why the NBA and David Stern are crooked.

Game 4 tonight in Boston.

The next two games are pretty much must wins for Boston. They have to go back to LA up 3-2 to have a chance.

Doc Rivers complained about the officiating after game 3. I tend to agree that it has been pretty horrible on both sides. Although I do think LA has benefited more as it seems they always do. So let's hope we get an evenly officiated game, and the ref's let them play.

I will agree officiating is questionable, has been for a long time. That being said... Tim Donaghy??? isn't he out of the NBA now for betting on games? Yeah, I'm gonna read his book

I hate the 2-3-2 set up. Somebody else mentioned earlier, takes away the home court advantage if you lose one of the first 2.

I don't like the Celtics at all.

How was that not a charging foul on Pierce?
