Re: Share Your Favorite Memory...........................
Mine is when I met Mick Foley/Mankind/Cactus Jack/Dude Love. My girlfriend at the time got me tickets to a little wrestling show in Cambridge and me and my mom met her and her mom up there and we all went. He was running late so the main event in which he was reffereeing was late. After the mian event he was sitting at a table in the gym getting ready to sign autograpaghs, but it was burning up in there so they moved the table in front of a back door so he could get some air. As he moved I pushed my mom to the front of the table so when he sat down my mom was the first one he saw. Mick decided to sell T-shirts so he pulls out a stakc of shirts and people start handing mom money to give him to get a tshirt. He was having trouble finding sizes so he asks my mom for help. I was so fired up my mom was helping Mick Foley sell tshirts. So then finally she gets a magazine autgrpaghed for me and these kids werent letting her out so shes like uh guys I need out. Then I get my autograpgh plus an autogrpaghed tshirt. It was one of the best nights ever.

My daughter and i met Pat Summitt a couple of years ago. She was so down to earth and a real classy lady. We got to talk to her several times during our week there and she had some wonderful stories. My little girl was on cloud nine for months. This coming week we get to meet Bob Schul (sure gahs4ever and noreply66 probably are familiar with who he is) at a distance camp. I believe he won a gold medal at the 64 Tokyo olympics.

As a kid my parents were always taking us to Reds games all summer long. These were sometimes mini vacations with Kings Island thrown in too. Many times we would find a door where the players came out. We found out many different doors were used through the years. It is not like that now. Anyhow the autographs we collected was the thrill of the night. Pete Rose many times, Johnny Bench, George Foster, Dave Concecion, Ceasar Geronimo, Ray Knight, Doug Flynn, Don Gullett, Don Werner, J.R. Richards(with Foster), Dan Driessan, Bill Bonham, Gary Nolan, Ed Norman, Rawley Eastwick, just to name a few. Those were the days. Don Gullett just pitched a complete game one night. He came out and was swamped with kids, and me being afraid I was not going to get his autograph, squeezed my way into the pile yelling his name for him to see me. When I did this he looked me right in the eye and said "son I am going to sign everybodys, be patient." He has always been one of my favorites.

As a kid ,Don Gullett was a favorite of mine.I never got to meet him or get his autograph. When I was 17 I was deer hunting with a friend of mine ,and his dad north of Beaver, when we came across these guys from Kentucky that were putting a deer drive together.Well i can now say that i have been deer hunting with Don Gullett. When i got married my wifes grandfather and his neighbor was hauling a couple loads of cattle to some guy in Kentucky and i was needed to drive one of the trucks.LO and behold that guy was Don Gullett. I have met or talked to him 4or 5 times and he was just common folk,as down to earth as you and me.

In 94 I think it was, I was working sideline security for the Frankfurt Galaxy Football team in Germany I was standing by the cheeleaders making sure people didnt walk to close to them while cheering. I got a call on the walkie talkie to go to the endzone and tell them two guys to move back behind the white line. I get there and as soon as I see him its Jimmy V he was doing sports news for Espn 2 or something like that. I ask them to move back then he ask me a couple qeustions and we stood there talking for about 30 mins. I wasnt alloud to get a autograph but he was a real nice guy. He died not long after that. he also couldnt believe how much the crowd was into the game.

I was waiting for my connecting flight back to Columbus at he Atlanta Airport. All of a sudden there was a huge crowd coming my way. It turned out to be Chris Collinsworth, Steve Spurrier and Evander Hollifield(sp). They were waitng for the same flight I was on. There were a bunch of people there asking for autographs. Hollifield and Collinsworth were very friendly and gracious to everyone, but Steve Spurrier was a complete butt. He was using profanity telling all of the people to leave him alone and no one was getting his f****** autograph. I remember that a very old gentleman that was setting down three chairs from me, and had been there even before I had gotten there, told Spurrier that there were kids around, that his autograph wasn't even worth spit. Spurrier's face turned red and he kind of went off to himself. No one even went near him. Collinsworth and Hollifield were very polite and friendly to everyone. Hollifield was extremely friendly and polite. He seemed to really like the kids around him and took the time to chat with all of them. I said Hello to them, as I was only about 5 feet from them. I didn't say hello to Spurrier, as I had seen the little show he had put on earlier.
One thing I did notice that I really hadn't noticed before. Hollifield in real life is a big man. And he looked solid as a rock, even in his street clothes you could tell he was very muscular. That was before the time he fought he lost part of his ear to Tyson. LOL.But from that day on, I have disliked Spurrier, having seen him cuss and throw a fit like he did at the airport that day. I think his problem was that everyone was wanting to see Hollifield. and not him. I know it would get old getting mobbed every where you would go, but he just didn't handled it the right way.

Getting to go to a Reds game on my birthday, Sept. 16th.
At this particular game, Tom Browning threw his perfect game!
I got to meet him, and have him sign his book not to long ago,
and told him that I was there as a kid when he threw his perfect game,
and that it was my birthday that day. He said happy birthday, and was glad
we could both share the day and the memories.

I met Bobby Bowden and also got my picture taken with him, as well as an autographed book called "The Bowden Way." You weren't supposed to take pictures or bring a camera back because of the line awaiting Bowden, but I asked for one and he didn't mind it at all. He small talked and talked about my FSU shirt and necklace with FSU pendant. He also has his 1999 championship ring on as well, and it was awesome to see in person on one of the winningest coaches in college football.
In 1999-2000 somewhere along those lines, I won a drawing to sit on the bench with the Harlem Globetrotters when they came to the former Huntington Civic Center. It was cool to sit on the bench with great talent and watch the show.

my fav memory is from the Boston Celtic --Detroit Piston Rivalry in the 80's . Celtics had all but lost the game as long as Detroit had enough composure to inbounds the ball. BUT DJ steals the inbounds pass, pass over to BIRD , layup good ! HE STOLE THE BALL HE STOLE THE BALL ! Gawd I hated the Pistons.

I'm younger than most posters on here lol, but 2 summers ago i was at kings island with my brother and some family. Brandon Phillips,Laynce Nix, and Carlos Fisher were there. It was a real hot day in august and the Reds had the day off. We got our picture taken with them and got my shirt signed. I also was at a Reds game a few years ago, and i sat down the first base line. I got my glove signed by Jerrod Burton, Jeff Keppinger and Norris Hopper. I also went to Bengals training camp about 4 years ago. I got alot of auto graphs from people like Domato Pecko, Leon Hall, Rudi Johnson, Robet Geathers and alot of others.

Not sure of the year, maybe 1972, won a foul shooting contest during Gallia Co fair. Winners advanced to the state fair. John Havlicek was there for the competition. Got his autograph and shook his hand. From what I remember his hands were huge.
