How the football people look at QB's in the NFL this year

Post by farmer »

The year starts with Vince Young playing well in the first 2 games. They interview him and look into what he has done in his life to change things around. Now he is done for the year after acting like a baby again. This is the same QB who said he only wanted to play a couple of years only before being drafted. Then all the ups and downs since.

Redskins with McNabb starts the season and everyone is on his band wagon then the benching and contract since.

Buffalo starting QB released after 1 game. Then Fitzpatrick who couldn't do anything in Cincinnati come back to embarass them this last Sunday.

Cincinnati Palmer with all the additions was going to be a passing machine.

The Steelers all the talk was to just be 2 and 2 when Ben gets back. They win all 4 and their losses have been with Ben.

The Farve mess,enough said.

Miami Dolphins who is next QB situation.

Cleveland brings in 2 vets and drafts a rookie. The rookie is getting the job done right now.

The Football people keep changing who the best QB is almost game to game. They are making Vick now out to be the best QB ever but he has only done it for a limited number of games. This comes after he played well got hurt then Kolb played very well in a few games.

To much is put on a teams success being on the QB play instead of the whole team playing together. I know there is other QB situations in the NFL these are just a few situations that come to mind.

Oh I didn't even mention the SF or the Arizona mess at QB.

Also Detroit thinking their QB was healthy and having a variety play since.

Or the thought of Josh Freeman in Tampa who just wins games.

Carolina has 4 qb's including the "most nfl ready rookie qb in Clausen" according to the "experts" but the fans are holding open tryouts in the stadium parking lot instead of buying tickets to watch the game.....

Brad Johnson Tampa and Trent Dilfer Ravens won Super Bowls were able to be supportive QB's for their great defenses.

One of the big things for a lot of the best QB's is they have good linemen blocking for them. They do not get hit a lot. Unlike some QB's who take abuse every week. Some of it is on the QB trying to make decisions along with waiting for the WR to run routes. Like in Chicago. You need a QB who has a good arm and health who does not make mistakes in multiple games. Also needs to be able to run or use the play action well to open up the defense. To many teams think you plug in any QB and they will led their team. It is a team sport so everyone needs to protect everyone.

True a good QB really helps out. But to many teams may have a good QB and do not protect them with a good line. This year many teams have made changes. Many thought they had the right QB at the begining of the season. Part of the problem is the way defenses have hurt the QB's this year. As well as teams looking for the super QB like JaMarcus Russell and Vince Young. Just because they have the skills will not make them a good QB. Colt McCoy seems to be following the Drew Brees to play good in the NFL.

Gahs there is another area you left off and that is a good management system with good coaches.

Actually, the Steelers were 3-1 before Roethlisberger, so they are 5-2 since his return. IMO, he is possibly a top 5 QB, behind Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees. Vick is right in the mix as well, as this is his best season by far. Sanchez, Rivers, and Flacco are also doing well. These are the best QB's in the league.
