Cleveland Browns 2012
Ah, it's almost time to open training camps. While I don't have much (any?) hope for my Browns this year, bad football trumps no football at all. So, with that being siad, what are some thoughts on the Browns this year and more hopefully, the next few? I realize there are plenty of haters and I've heard it all so bring it on!
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
How about the new receiver they just acquired through the supplemental, people in Cleveland seem really excited about this kid.I saw a clip of him running and he looked like Ted Ginn running with the ball, big long quick strides with his upper body leaning forward, hopefully Weeden is he man, it is all on him as to how good the Brownies will be.
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
Yes but the kid hasnt played for 2 years but the Browns are going to give him a shot. He got suspended 2 years ago for drugs and sit out last year after transfering to Utah. He says them days are behind him and he will make the people of Cleveland happy that hes there. I hope so. We lose our second round pick next year for taking him.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
Well in Cleveland he'd have to be near the top of the depth chart by default. I still haven't gotten over them not drafting a WR in the first two rounds last draft. Maybe this will make up for it. I hope his head's on straight!

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
RB Trent Richardson, QB Brandon Weeden, WR Josh Gordon, WR Josh Cooper, WR Travis Benjamin, the OT from California, and OC Brad Childress..........the Browns are intent on improving a moribund offense that has basically consisted of Phil Dawson kicking a 30-40 yard FG.........the defense is respectable, and the return of TJ Ward has to help the defensive backfield........hopefully the DT from Cincinnati that we took in the draft can offset the loss of Phil Taylor.
The Browns have the 3rd toughest schedule in the NFL, but I am looking for improvement, particularly on offense.......I know the record may not be that good, but I'm hoping that we can look like a team that within the next 2-3 years can be a playoff team and even challenge for the Super Bowl.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
It'll be the most complete offense I've seen in Cleveland since the rebirth. Four possible deep threats (Little, Cribbs, Benjamin, Cooper) to go with a possible home-run hitter out of the backfield.
Add an accurate cannon at QB behind a stablized line, and we may have something. And there are also multiple options underneath with MoMass and the TEs.
Hopefully we won't see as much of Phil Dawson this year. I love the guy and hope he's a Brownie forever, but we need to score some points so that our defense doesn't have to play perfect for 16 weeks just to have a chance.
Excited to see what Hughes, Winn and Rucker bring to the line, and I am really wanting to see what James-Michael Johnson is all about.
At least they'll be wearing brown jerseys a minimum of four times this year. Can't wait.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
Adding Frostee Rucker to the DL will certainly help, giving the Browns much needed depth at that position.......Rookie DT John Hughes from Cincinnati will have some large shoes to fill in place of Phil Taylor.......reportedly the LB they drafted from Nevada, Michael-Johnson, has been looking good in camp.

Also, new owner. See ya Randy! Absentee owner has thrown in the towel. Trouble is, a Terrible Towel Twirler has bought them. Two good things 1) The Browns must stay in Cleveland under the deal...and 2) Maybe the Rooney methods will come to Cleveland.
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
Brownies defense getting off to a bad start as another starter goes down,Chris Gocong done for the year with achilles tendon injury,They will now be without at least 3 starters on defense come opening day and they have not even played any exibition games yet so that number could grow.

So will other team's injuries. Problem is, the Browns have a lack of depth.C-Bolt wrote:Brownies defense getting off to a bad start as another starter goes down,Chris Gocong done for the year with achilles tendon injury,They will now be without at least 3 starters on defense come opening day and they have not even played any exibition games yet so that number could grow.
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
And it will put more pressure on an unproven offense, they will have to score more touchdowns this year or there won't be a lot of close games.
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
The new owner only said there was ZERO chance of the Browns leaving Cleveland.......AS LONG AS HE OWNED THE TEAM. THAT was the agreement made with the former owner. Whats to say he doesn't sell the team in a year or two and doesn't make that agreement. I bet he already has future plans in mind (and probably a deal already worked out) of NOT having a Browns team much longer.dazed&confused wrote:Also, new owner. See ya Randy! Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
I could be wrong but thought I heard the NFL would not approve a move from Cleveland no matter who owned them.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
The NFL has enough issues on it's plate right now with concussions, bounties, etc., without taking on another. Cleveland has taken a beating in recent years to the point they are a sympathetic wounded city, sports-wise. No one has the stomach to see them take another hit, especially since the last time the Browns left, there was such an an uproar. You never heard the term, "Team name and colors" until that happened. If the fans weren't buying tickets and you had an empty stadium, that would be one thing. If ever a fan base needs rewarding, it's the Browns (and Cleveland in general). Not quite in Cubs futility area yet but getting there.
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
I wonder if they reduce Vilma's suspension for the bounty scandal if they'll do the same for the other players suspension's including Fujita ? Now I'm hearing more problems for the Browns,,Trent Richardson might have a serious knee problem and Joe Haden has tested positive for an illegal drug,THE CURSE CONTINUES

I really don't expect big things and always wait for the other shoe to fall as a Browns fan. Years of beatdowns have left me "Comfortably Numb" with all apologies to Pink Floyd.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
Watched the Browns at the Packers last night. Talk about conflicted! Hard to get my dog ears to fit over my cheese head! Anyway, my take is the Packers will be fine but they seemed disinterested last night. The Browns looked like the team with something to prove. The biggest question was Weeden. He looked much improved but I'm still not enamored of a 28 year old rookie. Anyway, hard to take anything away from that game. May raise my estimation of the Brownies to 6-10. Packers should be right in the thick of the Super Bowl hunt.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
Well, it seems our 29 year old rookie QB, the salvation of our franchise, can't hold on to the ball. Another 40 years wandering in the wilderness!
