WWE Has A New No. 1 Merchandise Seller, And It Might Surprise You Who It Is
WWE has a new merchandise king. Well, it actually has a new merchandise queen.
According to Fightful.com's Sean Ross Sapp, Becky Lynch is the company's new No. 1 merchandise seller.
Sapp also revealed that Lynch has been leading WWE's merchandise sales since "roughly November." Over the past several months, there has been a debate about whether the popularity of Lynch, who has generated the best crowd reactions in WWE for roughly half a year, translated to anything beyond loud crowd reactions. As it turns out, Lynch is developing into a sizable draw for the company and appears to be the first female performer in WWE history to rank first in merchandise sales.
Last year, Roman Reigns did the unthinkable when he surpassed John Cena as the company's top merchandise mover, a shocking turn of events, despite Cena's part-time status, given that Cena had sat atop WWE's merchandise sales for a decade, if not more. Reigns' rise to the top spot in the company, however, also allowed him to leapfrog Cena and crown himself as the new champion of WWE's merchandising empire. Roughly a year ago, WWE's top five merchandise sellers were, in order, Reigns, Cena, AJ Styles, Finn Balor and Seth Rollins.
Given how popular those aforementioned stars are, it stands to reason that they probably still rank among the best merchandise movers in the company, but the rise of Lynch has catapulted her to unprecedented territory and yet another history-making moment.
