Joe Tait, the voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers has died of kidney disease at age 83.
Joe was the team's radio broadcaster from their inception in 1970 until 2011. Tait was inducted into the media wing of the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2010.
I believe Tait may have also did some Logan Chieftain games back in the 1960's.
Sadly time marches on for the voices of our youth.

Joe Tait Has Passed Away
Re: Joe Tait Has Passed Away
That's wild Omega! I never knew he did Logan games. I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk of that around here. He was big name up there. He said he never watched the Cavs after he retired. Didn't like the way the game had changed he said.
Re: Joe Tait Has Passed Away
I am not 100% certain on the Logan thing. I am basing that on m memory of an interview he did back in the 70's. Maybe @loganlocos or @Chieftain2009 can confirm or deny that. It does not matter, Tait was a joy to listen too in a home spun kind of way.

I think you are thinking of Lee "Hacksaw" Hamilton. He did Chieftain sports back in the '60s and later did NFL play-by-play for the San Diego Chargers and many others.

Re: Joe Tait Has Passed Away
I can't recall ever hearing of Joe Tait doing Logan games. I know for a number of years he was the play-by-play guy for the OU Bobcats. I could be wrong though.
